“Fantastic hotel in heart of Antigua”

Hotel Aurora couldn’t have been better. Carlos was super helpful, the rooms and grounds were beautiful and the breakfasts were delicious.

I have been to Antigua 14 times in the last 10 years and every time I return to Hotel Aurora because it offers everything - a beautiful and peaceful setting, walkable proximity to everything in town, very reasonable rates, lovely amenities, and an incredibly kind and helpful staff! On my most recent trip, my friend broke her leg and I needed to get her to the hospital, back to the hotel, and eventually to the airport, and the staff helped me with EVERYTHING. I could not have done it without them. They epitomize everything that is special about the Guatemalan people.

“Just Loved It. Loveliest Hotel I’ve Ever Stayed At!”

I had just spent two or three nights (booked by a tour group I was with) in another Antigua Hotel that blew me away, and had small expectation there would be another, even nicer hotel in Antigua. Well there is, and it’s Aurora Hotel. How often do you walk into a hotel and just catch your breath? The Hotel Aurora is centered around a traditional central garden courtyard with fountain, that is both lush and lavish with flowering plants, plus it’s home to an elderly resident parrot named Lorenzo, who gets taken for a walk every afternoon. The garden was so stunning that I spotted a local guide showing it off to some visitors on his tour, as a classic example of an Antiguan central courtyard. Every time I came back through those iron gates, it felt like coming home, The rooms I saw open (and you better bet I peeked every opportunity I had) had lovely antique furniture, and were spacious. My room was large, had a dressing room area, and a nice shower. The bed was comfortable, and there was a mini split AC unit in the room, as well as a mini fridge. Filtered water was replaced and refilled daily. Outside of each room, on a covered porch, are armchairs, a sofa, and a table for that room, to just sit and enjoy the garden. I’m not a relax-er, but I found myself eating a sandwich, enjoying coffee, or bringing treats back from the gorgeous traditional La Dona dulceria across the street, and just kicking back and enjoying myself. I even pulled some needlework out and sat outside one evening. In a HOTEL, for heavens sake. This was a solo trip for me. At no time did I feel uncomfortable or unsafe anywhere in Antigua. There are a number of excellent restaraunts nearby (Epicure was a favorite), the dulceria across the street, La Condesa on the square, and a very nice little blue-tiled coffee shop run by two pleasant young men across the street as well. Very short walk to the town square and museums. If you are a textile fancier, the handwork shop between Hotel Aurora and the Square called Ixcaco had some of the finest textiles I saw on a textile oriented trip, and is worth a visit. In fact, I enjoyed it my stay so much, I’ve talked my husband into returning with me in a couple of months, and am sitting on pins and needles hoping Hotel Aurora has a room available for us. I’ve raved so much about this hotel , I feel like I owe it to him to let him enjoy it, too, and see that I’m not pulling his leg.

“Great place to stay”

Great place. The team is extremely helpful and helped us with anything we needed. The breakfast was partial and we had to add payment to get eggs/bacon/beans/etc. There was also a little bit of noise from the street, but it was lit too bad.
