The atmosphere of the hotel is excellent and we enjoyed our rooms as well as all the space to wander. The museums are enjoyable. The location is perfect, especially with the tunnel connecting the parking lot directly to the reception area meaning that there is a truly handicap acessible entrance without stairs. Noon check-out was also very nice as it gave us time for a last tour around Antigua before having to leave. The only complaint we had was that the staff in the restaurant were rather disorganized, trying to take away plates with food still on them or failing to deliver items which had been ordered (brought a cup and hot water, but not the tea etc.).

Wow! We were absolutely blown away by our experience at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo. To be honest, we weren’t entirely sure what we had booked—by the time we made our reservation, all the two‑bedroom accommodations were gone, so we selected what we thought was a three‑bedroom suite. What we ended up with was far beyond anything we imagined. When we checked in, we learned we wouldn’t be staying on the main property but at Santo Domingo del Cerro, a beautiful extension of the hotel. The complimentary shuttle took us to our Estancia del Cerro, which turned out to be essentially a private three‑bedroom house. There were only two of us, but the space easily sleeps six and felt luxurious, spacious, and incredibly peaceful. The grounds at Santo Domingo del Cerro are stunning—a restaurant, shops, multiple museums, beautiful gardens, and art installations everywhere you turn. Walking through the property felt like being inside an open‑air gallery surrounded by nature. It was truly a unique and unforgettable setting. Our estancia included a hot tub, steam room, and gorgeous outdoor patio, making it the perfect place to unwind after exploring Antigua. We found ourselves wishing we had booked a few extra nights just to enjoy everything the property had to offer. The staff throughout our stay were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, adding even more warmth to an already exceptional experience. If you’re planning a trip to Antigua, staying at Santo Domingo del Cerro is a truly memorable choice—unexpected in the best possible way.

“Beautiful architecture and hospitality. Very relaxing.”

Beautiful surroundings like this help you to relax and unwind very quickly. As a workaholic missionary here in Guatemala, it is nice to get away for a few days to relax and unwind. I highly recommend spending a few days here. The pool area was beautiful and the warm water inviting for November.

A truly beautiful and unique property — but service that falls short of its standards. Hotel Casa Santo Domingo is undeniably stunning. The setting, architecture, and atmosphere make it a remarkable destination and a place with real character. However, what should have been a seamless experience was unfortunately impacted by a disappointing interaction with management. We were charged $49 for a third guest who did not stay overnight, did not use any amenities, and left shortly after dinner — in a taxi arranged by the hotel itself. Despite explaining this clearly, the hotel chose to apply the charge with no flexibility or consideration. In a property of this caliber, one expects not only strong policies, but also judgment, discretion, and a genuine sense of hospitality. This was lacking. This is particularly regrettable as we were evaluating the hotel as a potential venue for a company seminar. While the setting is exceptional, this experience raises concerns about how guests and partners are handled when situations require nuance. A beautiful place, without question — but service is what defines a truly great hotel.
