“Know what you’re in for, but wonderful if you set the proper expectations”

It’s a boat. It’s relatively cheap. Your cabin is small and just for sleeping. With that you can set your expectations. Other then the nice terras, you’ll probably want to spend time in other parts of the city. Come if: you enjoy the price point for a room you only plan to sleep in, you have no mobility issues, you enjoy a little bit more green & peace and quiet while still being in the city center. Most of the people traveling by foot or bike I know will love it. Don’t come if: you plan to spend significant time in your room, have mobility issues, expect a nice decor, have ever cared about star ratings, or have trouble sleeping with any kind of noise. The rooms, or cabins, are small, be sure to check that. For a single guy traveling light, it works wonderfully. Huge suitcases would take an relatively big portion of your cabin, and with two people, moving in your room takes.. coordination. There is little to no soundproofing, so depending on how other visitors behave this could be an issue, it wasn’t for me. As a 1m92 guy, I cannot stand upright in my room, or in the shower (rain shower btw, loved that), and luckily I had a double bed so I could just fit in diagonally. Public areas though are fine height wise and spacey. The decor is old and definitely not updated in recent years, but I’m not there to stare at walls. It looks old but was clean enough to my taste. It is NOT suited to people with mobility issues, as there are some stairs getting into the boat, and it you need to go to another deck, the stairs are extremely steep. This suited me as solo traveler just fine, but might not be for everyone. As I was visiting by bike, it was very nice to be able to park my bike on the boat itself, like a lot of other people did, with the gate being locked at 00:00 at night made me slee easy. (Of course, they still open the gate for guest). It has a very nice terras to relax, or if you prefer, a wonderful park right next to it where people seem to enjoy coming, having some picnics and games in the grass, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Right next to the footbridge over the Meuse you’re in the the busy center on both sides in a jiffy. Contrary to what other people have said, I have found the staff to be very friendly, and it seems there are fire detectors in every room, at least there was in mine and in public spaces. Some downsides: - my only electrical outlet in the room was in the middle of a wall, which meant a little bit of ingenuity of strategically hanged coats to be able to charge some of my devices with the short chords I had. - the road next to the Meuse can be a bit noisy if you’re in the side facing the bank - it’s a boat, if a big barge passes you can expect some minor movement, but not a whole lot. As a guy who had an atrocious time not being able to sleep on a North Sea ferry, I could sleep like a rose here. Don’t come if:
