Small things matter and that is why this hotel deserves a 5 star. Our spacious room was always clean when we got back. The location is not in the centre of the city but was easily accessible by Metro or Tram. But, the killer was the service from all teams. At the time of checkout I requested for a plastic tie to secure my check in luggage. Peter from maintenance and the Reception team immediately understood my request and got me few ties before my Uber arrived. Thank you Corendon New-West team.

Too Long Didn’t Read / TLDR: Wow, what a hidden gem! Well placed but out of the bustle of the city, amazing staff, and incredible rooms. The hotel is located between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central, with Metro trains stopping nearby to get to you Centraal station (20ish mins) at Henk Sneevlietweg or the tram also nearby that takes you direct to the Rijksmuseum in a 15 min tram ride. With the airport as little as 19 minutes away via Lelylaan station. The hotel is ‘internet famous’ for having a suite with a full Boeing 737 cockpit and plane body inside a room! (alas, I didn’t stay in this suite, but it is an absolute dream of mine to stay in it one day!) As always with my reviews, I break it down into ‘The Good’, ‘The Not So Good’ and ‘The Weird’. - The Good; Well, there’s gonna be a lot here! I received a super friendly welcome at both check in, and an incredibly kind goodbye at check out. All the staff I encountered on the front desk, at the bar in the evening, and at breakfast in the morning were nothing short of brilliant. I was given a lovely upgrade to a suite which had high ceilings and was expansive in size but more on that later - €10 for not having my room cleaned during my stay. A free drink at the bar, and the welcome gift of chocolates in room as well as free breakfast (+1) with my titanium status. The corridors and general hotel areas smell great - I’m not sure what it was, it smelt a bit like green tea and lemongrass. Inside the room I was greeted with huge super king bed, a very good desk, multiple armchairs, delightful furnishings that were very dutch-modern (Kintsugi was a theme!) with parquet floors. A small fridge, slippers and robes and a safe. A/C was very effective, bed was comfortable. A rare display of one pillow… actually just right - perhaps maybe a little hard for some but for me, perfect. The room was also spotlessly clean. Shower was great too - again a rare case of the shower being the right temperature on the middle click setting. And the door to the bathroom was a proper solid door, although this will come up again in the section ‘the weird’. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful, with an egg chef available, I had really nice cheese omelet. A shoutout to the ‘speculoos and almond butter’ that was available which I am desperate to try again soon. The bacon was a little strange though, perhaps a Netherlands speciality. 
- The Not So Good: This was the *only* not good thing about the hotel. The toaster at breakfast. It appeared to only toast one side of the bread, despite the controls being set at the ‘do not touch’ marks - it also sped through and just warmed the bread on one side - nor did it eject the bread properly, so you had to either awkwardly stand behind it feeding the bread back in again multiple times, or just live a toastless existence. - The Weird: The egg timer in the bathroom that turns on a heat lamp - I have never seen this before, kinda useful, kinda scary! I couldn’t work out how to turn the bathroom light sensor off. In the middle of the night you just need a little glow not the full blown light. The windows had a gauze over them. Took me a while to work out but they’re actually blinds and are controlled from the A/C control panel. The room would do well to have a little note to explain things like this, and the heat lamp. - The Practicals Windows don’t open as expected. 2 bars of LTE on KPN and full bars on Vodafone NL Fridge with water, nespresso machine and pods, a few tea bags. Toiletries by Scapa Home that were uncomfortably high at the sink, but nice smelling. In Summary: This hotel is probably the best unassuming gem of a hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I really want to stay in the plane suite more than any other hotel room I’ve ever come across! Fingers crossed I can make it one day.

“Super comfortable hotel!”

Absolutely lovely. Very comfortable bed, exceptional pool/spa, fabulous hotel restaurant. Convenient to the Metro or Tram 2. Great home base to explore Amsterdam on an unlimited transit card(Amsterdam Travel Ticket).

The Corendon New-West is overall a great property, and we really enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff is very kind and friendly, and helped us figure out which trams to take to get into Amsterdam. The Corendon New-West is overall a great property, and we really enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff is very kind and friendly, and helped us figure out which trams to take to get into Amsterdam. It’s halfway between Schiphol and city center, at half the price of the downtown hotels. The hearty breakfast is fantastic with a good variety of food (fruit, cereal, cheese, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, croissant, and even gluten free bread upon request.) My husband enjoyed the omelette! We ate in Mondi for dinner a couple of times, it was excellent. All the wait staff were polite and helpful. The two-twin rooms are on the small side, but well laid out. It took the entire week to be able to get a bathrobe, but we finally did. The bathroom light needs to go off and stay off, what a nuisance that woke both of us up repeatedly. The housekeeping staff is lovely and took care to clean our room every day with fresh towels. We did use the pool, which is just fine though a little hard to get in and out of. The only staff that were unpleasant to deal with at the hotel, were the spa desk attendants. I dealt with four different staff over several days, and they were all grumpy and rude. One would hope that the Corendon would encourage their spa attendants to improve their customer service and their attitude towards guests. Overall, a great stay and we’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
