My husband booked this hotel to celebrate my 70th birthday, it is absolute luxury . From the concierge to the people at the desk nothing is to much trouble for them , and they call you by your name. All staff are very friendly. And helpful. The rooms are magnificent, we stayed on 5th floor, there are 23floors.The restaurants are lovely relaxing. If you cant get to Japan, you get the experience at this hotel .

My fiance and I had a fantastic week stay at the Okura! I have stayed in a lot of very elite hotels across the world and hotel Okura exceeded my expectations. The room was exceptionally clean (I checked) and staff put out lovely welcome treats and congratulations card to celebrate my fiancés birthday and our engagement. Nigel at the concierge was the best! He took care of booking everything for us, to include a private river cruise, private cars, tours, etc. Truly a pleasure to work with. And he never got annoyed with any of my crazy requests! The customer service at this hotel is top notch. They care so much about their guests. The staff is very responsive and always went out of their way to assist us with any of our needs. Any issues were handled immediately. Additionally, the pillow menu is awesome, what a great touch. Moreover, the panorama lounge was excellent, and offered a great selection of snacks and beverages (including coffee). We also really enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant in the lobby every morning. The staff always remembered our names, served us immediately and got us anything we needed. The breakfast was also delicious! Honestly, the standard at this hotel is top notch, the cleanliness, customer service, friendliness of the staff, decor of the hotel, pillows/beds, amenities. I highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Amsterdam and working with the concierge front desk staff! It won’t disappoint.

“Great place with a memorable breakfast”

I had a great time, place looks really nice and is located pretty close to the central part of the city. The best part for me was the breakfast, especially Japanese menu. Besides that I recommend booking rooms at higher levels with a great view over the city!

I recently stayed at Hotel Okura Amsterdam for three nights and left feeling disappointed, primarily due to how a very basic guest request was handled. I had booked an Executive King Room and, as I always do when traveling, requested a quiet room away from the elevator because I’m an extremely light sleeper. This is a fairly standard request, and in my experience many hotels go out of their way to accommodate it — sometimes even assigning rooms at the far end of a hallway to ensure a more restful stay. Unfortunately, Okura did the exact opposite. Upon arriving at the assigned room, I discovered it was directly adjacent to the elevator lobby. I didn’t even enter the room; the location alone made it clear it would not work for me. I immediately returned to the front desk to request a change. At that point, I was told I had only two options: keep the Executive King room beside the elevator or downgrade to a standard Queen room. Since sleep quality matters to me more than room size, I accepted the downgrade. What was most frustrating was that neither the hotel nor American Express Travel was willing to adjust the nightly rate, despite the obvious difference in room category. The explanation given was that the reservation had been prepaid through American Express Travel. The hotel did offer complimentary breakfast as compensation, but that benefit had little value to us since we already had executive lounge access included with our booking. In the end, I paid Executive King pricing for a standard Queen room for all three nights. The hotel itself was fine overall, but the check-in experience significantly impacted my impression of the stay. Amsterdam has many luxury hotels in more convenient locations that, in my experience, deliver a much higher level of guest care and service recovery when problems arise. I wouldn’t say the stay was terrible, but I also wouldn’t return given the way this situation was handled.
