“Easy to find, easy to get on cruise ship.”

Another great stay at the Hotel New York! Our first stay since Westcord bought it. The service, restaurant, and rooms appeared to be the same high quality as before. The bathrooms, however went from quirky to standard (not a bad thing). The new bathrooms were very nice.

Chose the Hotel New York because of its proximity to the cruise terminal since we were going on a Holland American cruise after a four night-stay in Rotterdam and because of the history of the hotel as the former nineteenth-century headquarters of the cruise line. Since last year we had stayed at the nearby SS Rotterdam Hotel just across the way, we decided to book this year the Hotel New York since we had been very impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the Westcord brand of hotels. We were not disappointed with the individualized attention of Iris who, although no longer at the hotel, booked our room at the Hotel New York and the efficiency and smile of Elsa at the front desk during our four-night stay. We reserved one of the Boardroom accommodations because it kept the original late nineteenth-century decor as a former office of a member of the line's board, and because of its spaciousness, view, and modern conveniences. Not only was it an amazing experience, but, as the top-of-the-line room category in the hotel, I found it surprisingly affordable as a once-in-a-lifetime experience - splurge and you will be glad you did. The only negative comment by way of a warning is that the front entrance to the hotel lobby is up a flight of about fifteen steps - handicap accessibility was apparently not an issue in the nineteenth century. Some other reviewers have noted this drawback, but I went ahead and booked the room in spite of my painful right knee. If you can drag yourself up a short flight of stairs while grabbing a handrail and pulling yourself up, the ordeal is worth a stay at the Hotel New York. Inside the hotel, a small elevator awaits. By the way, the neighborhood is fantastic - a great mix of office and residential, old and new.

“Unique inside and out”

We loved staying at this iconic hotel (so iconic it is memorialized as a KLM house iykyk). Our room was small but had everything we needed with a great view over the water. The service was lovely and welcoming - we even arrived quite early and they let us into the room without having to wait or pay extra (rare these days). We ate at their restaurant (super tasty) and then walked around the area - a perfect neighbourhood to explore - close to museums and lots of restaurants. Our room was a little loud until midnight as we were next to a private entertainment room - and there was a super loud holiday party. But - overall would recommend this hotel to others as its aesthetically interesting and unique.
