“Likeable motel”

Breakfast wasn't too good and too sweat, in a huge hall filled with older tour group tourists, but the bar offered a roadtrip experience and the rooms were very good and big. Good parking. Especially very friendly and helpful staff.

From our arrival and throughout our stay the staff were really friendly and helpful. They recommended booking a 4x4 trip to see the Monfrague National Park. This proved invaluable - we had an amazing guide who made sure we saw the best sightings of Griffon Vultures, Black Vultures and Egyptian Vultures as well as the Red Deer who were in the rutting season. All for 30€ per person for a good 4hour trip, including use of scopes, binoculars and cold drinks. A fabulous experience. We also enjoyed breakfasts at the hotel and delicious evening meals where we were able to choose the menu del dia menu for 10€ (15€ for weekends). We were able to spend time after our busy days relaxing by the small pool and enjoying a lazy swim. A lovely hotel, made better by the great customer service.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise since it is located on the side of the road just outside of a very small town called Malpartida de Plasencia. It has an impressive entrance; the rooms are airy and comfortable with air conditioning. The pool, despite being much smaller than what the pictures led us to believe, was ok to cool off from 42C temps! Staff are very nice and friendly and can communicate in both Spanish and English. Since the town of Malpartida did not have many restaurant choices, we decided to try the menu at the hotel. Another pleasant surprise: we were able to have a lovely entrée, main dish of cod fish and salad plated with creativity, plus dessert, a drink and coffee for the modest price of 10 euros. And the chef even came out to ask us if the food was ok! Our plan was to stay for a day but friendly Maria José at the desk recommended the Rutas 4x4 3 hr tour of the National Park of Monfrague with Monfrague Vivo. We decided to follow her advice and stay for one more night and go on the tour at 6pm for which we paid 30 euros per person. So glad we listened to Maria José. What a delightful experience! And then because we wanted to return to Portugal very early in the morning, the hotel staff made a point of having breakfast ready for us so we wouldn’t have to leave on an empty stomach! Thank you, everyone for being so thoughtful! These nice gestures from staff are what make some hotels more special and more memorable than others. Customer service at its best.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of July 2013. We chose the hotel mainly for the location and the price, which was very reasonable. It is located on the edge of the small town of Malpartida de Plasencia, just 8 kilometers from the interesting city of Plasencia. The hotel was easy to find and shaded parking was readily available. Entering I was greeted by the question, " Mr. V.........? The young woman at the desk, as well as the two other young women we had occasion to deal with, was extremely polite and friendly. We spoke in Spanish but she could have spoken to us in English if necessary. The halls are a bit dark but this is because of the furniture and the old fashioned decoration. Our room was clean and modern with wooden floors and a lot of light. The bathroom was spotless. The television was modern but, for an English speaker, only offered fare in Spanish. Since we didn't watch it there was no problem. The pool was a bit of a letdown as it was much smaller than what it looked like on the internet photo. Nevertheless, the water was clean and there was no-one using it in the 40 plus heat of July. We don't usually eat dinner in hotels but the menu for only 10 euros looked promising. We had drinks, starters, a main dish, bread, and a delicious dessert for a very modest price. Unlike most menus for such a low price the appearance of the food was artistic and there was creativity in the preparation. We were actually going to leave after one day but were told about a 4 X 4 jeep excursion with a private guide through the Monfrague National Park for three hours at only 30 euros a head. Since I knew nothing about the park, one of the best in Europe for birdwatching, I decided to do something different. It was amazing. A well-informed guide, Raúl, with sophisticated bird and other animal observing equipment treated us to one of the most incredible afternoons we had spent in many years. I would recommend staying at the hotel, eating there too, and taking the three hour tour, which leaves either in the early morning or late afternoon.
