Melia Castilla The level was our first destination arriving on a long haul flight from Australia on our 2 week Spain Holiday and tour. The Check in was welcoming and smooth at the Level lounge. We were given all the information about the hotel and invited to have afternoon coffee and some food soon after check in. Our room was very well appointed and was one of the largest Level rooms we have stayed in. The room was quiet and the AC worked perfectly well. We were guest for 2 days and the staff in the Level lounge were amazing. They were friendly , warm and tried to help us with understanding the food and culture of Madrid. Valen at evening canapes and drinks time and Elviro at Breakfast were especially nice : They would remember what our preferences were. What is particularly generous at the Level Lounges of the Melia hotels in Spain was that in Madrid , Seville and Granada the lounge has food available all the time as well as red and white wine and Cava ( bubbly) as well as soft drinks & coffee etc. The evening hot food /canapes time is up to 3 hours and included international spirits. At Melia Castilla the staff in the lounge were always present to serve. This was not the case at Melia Sevilla or Melia Granada. We felt well looked after, often after a day of visiting the city and being on tours of the various sights. Madrid was refined and cultured. The only drawback is the distance from the city centre of around 5 km but this was well made up for by the quality of the service. The Check out was equally straightforward. The pool was undergoing renovations but it was likely too cold to use in early April. We would strongly recommend this hotel. Sam & Angela

My son and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as we were watching the Real Madrid derby staying on The Level. From start to finish with the money paid the whole experience was fantastic. The staff, being too many to name, from Elena on the front desk to all aspects were friendly and actually you felt special. The quality of the food, snacks and all different drinks options, all of which were complimentary made a huge difference to the stay overall. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I wish UK hotels would take note on how to deal with paying customers and how to look after as it can be pretty shameful in the experiences I have had previously. Well done Meliá and I will be staying again.

“"The Level" provided extras that enhanced our experience”

5 night stay booked through BA as a holiday package. We pre-paid to upgrade from the standard room to "The Level" which we found was well worth the extra. On arrival at main reception we were taken down the The Level to check in there, where Elena got our luggage delivered to our room whilst she explained all the facilities available in the Lounge. It was nice to have a glass of Cava and some nibbles before going up to our room. Throughout our stay the team in the Lounge looked after us whenever we called in, whether for a hot drink after an excursion around Madrid, or to sample the tapas and wines in the evenings or enjoy breakfasts. The hot tapas is served just before 6pm and remains available till about 9pm, but we felt the "hot" elements cooled down fairly quickly on the servery. Breakfast selections were good, and the availability of omelettes, fried eggs and eggs benedict to order (and other items) enhanced the experience. Our allocated room on floor 15 (top floor) was well presented. Some repairs to the curtains which were pulling away from the track would be desirable. There were a couple of other minor maintenance niggles in what was otherwise a well appointed room with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was luxurious but the absence of a towel rail meant we had to get towels replaced daily - we'd happily reuse towels as long as they can dry out overnight, and replacing daily feels a bit counter-cultural as we become more environmentally concerned. We would also have preferred to have the hairdryer available to use in the bedroom area - in this hotel it is permanently wired in beside the mirror over the bathroom sink. Melia Castilla is a bit out of town but having bought multi-journey tickets for the buses and metro we found bus route 27 particularly useful for getting near the centre of the city. The metro is also an option, we used all three lines from Plaza Castilla for journeys. Overall this was our first experience of Melia hotel group's "The Level" and we certainly hope to do it again, either in Madrid or across other hotels that have that facility.

“Amazing stay”

We’ve loved our stay at Melia Castilla. Room was gorgeous clean and spacious. Location was great 9 min walk to the train station & 15 min walk to the Bernabeu stadium. Staff couldn’t do enough for us and so friendly. I also had a massage and it was so relaxing. Loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back. Thank you Melia!
