I booked on the roadside, and recd a call from manager wanting $100, (Super.com offered $96.53 and 94.44) and wished to confirm i wanted the room next week, not tonight. I had inadvertently booked 4 next week by mistake. He told me to cancel the other booking and rebook. Super.com dont allow cancellations, there is no contact phone either. I will challenge trans via bank but Reddit says the two owners are scammers (wish i had known). I admit my mistake but others are far greater. My room had no shower curtain or sugar to go with coffee, and no milk (I brought my own). Not happy jac k.

This motel has been in gradual decline for years, although the owners have upgraded some rooms with new bathrooms and have replaced the former noisy air-conditioners with quiet, effective reverse cycle air-conditioning units. The prices do admittedly reflect the decline in standards. However, the Explorers Restaurant within the motel has a good range of food and the service was good. However, the big issue at this property is lack of security. Most Moree motels have secure fencing and gates locked at night but not at the Burke & Wills. There are unconfirmed reports of break and entering of motor vehiclesand rooms at this motel. I understand that the new management is planning to install an entry gate so that should vastly improve the security situation.

The staff were very obliging & friendly & did all they could to help us. The first room was not at all what we had booked, so they moved us to a better one. However after a hot day and long drive you cannot have a cool shower. The water runs hot through the roof & does not cool down, it was too hot to get under even though out of the cold tap. So I had a swim in the pool instead. (Leave your cool shower til the morning!!) The toaster only worked if I held down the slider knob. There was only 1 teaspoon and 2 cups & some glasses. No plate or knife for the toast so why provide a toaster. A tea towel but no detergent or cloth to clean up. The hairdryer was in a holder but the holder was not connected to the wall. The connection points to the holder had black grease on them, what a mess!! Hubby had to hold the holder up so I could use the dryer, and tried not to get the grease on him. The bed was comfy. The meals in the restaurant are nice, but quite pricey. (Order the entree as they’re generous & filling). The pool is great but there was no pool towel in the room. The bath towels were very thin & old looking. Freezer had no door so didn’t work, therefore no ice tray. I think someone needs to check everything in the rooms & do some maintenance. Maybe too many rooms for them to look after properly. There was room for our trailer & car which was pleasing.
