1. Arrival and Check-In: Making the reservation on Booking.com was incredibly smooth, and our arrival at the hotel set the tone for a great stay. The first impression was amazing—clean and welcoming, with a friendly atmosphere. The front desk staff greeted us warmly, spoke excellent English (which was a major concern for us), and made us feel right at home. Check-in was quick and seamless, and all the essential information was conveniently provided in the room. 2. Room Quality: - Cleanliness: Our room was absolutely spotless, with a complimentary bottle of water provided for all three guests. - Comfort: We stayed in a family room that came with a single bed and a double bed—both super comfortable with fluffy pillows and cosy seating areas. - Design: The interior décor was modern yet cozy, making it feel like a home away from home. - Amenities: The room came fully stocked with great amenities—a minibar (with a clear price list), a "Tesla" smart TV (which gave us a laugh), and essential toiletries like shampoo, conditioner (a 2-in-1), shower gel, and even shower caps. There were also bathrobes, towels (clearly labelled to avoid confusion), a hot water kettle, coffee cups, glasses, and tea/coffee essentials. However, a few things could be improved—room slippers and moisturisers/toothpaste could have been provided, and we had to log in to our own streaming accounts on the smart TV (and remember to log out before checkout). - Temperature Control: The room insulation was excellent, making it feel almost like summer. However, the air conditioning was tricky to figure out, so we often had to open the windows, especially after shower time, when the room felt a bit stuffy. - Daily Cleaning: The cheerful housekeeping staff cleaned our room daily, refreshed the toilet paper, and kept everything spotless. - View: Our room overlooked the street, where we spotted a nearby playground and took our toddler for some fun playtime. 3. Hotel Staff and Service: The staff were phenomenal! Everyone was polite, friendly, and attentive. They paid extra attention to our toddler, always giving her high-fives and warm hellos that made her smile. - Responsiveness: The team responded quickly to all our requests and needs. - Personal Touch:*A special shoutout to the restaurant staff—they were simply amazing! They made every meal special, and one even surprised our toddler with a chocolate bar. Another staff member took the time to explain why Christmas in Montenegro is celebrated on January 7th instead of December 25th. It’s small gestures like these that make a stay so memorable! 4. Dining Experience: - Restaurant: While the food and staff were excellent, the smell of cigarettes in the restaurant was a major downside. The indoor smoking area was only partitioned by a door that was always left open, causing the smell to spread. It was something we got used to over time, but it’s definitely an area for improvement. - Breakfast Options: Breakfast was à la carte, not buffet-style, but there were a variety of options to choose from, and we were also allowed to order to-go items. - Taste Preference: One thing to note—because of our taste preferences as Africans, we would have loved to see spicier (peppery) options on the menu. This isn’t a big deal, as we understand it’s a personal preference, but it would be nice to have an option for spicier meals. 5. Facilities: - Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi connection was strong and reliable, which was great. However, since the network was open and didn’t require a password, we were a bit concerned about security. We used VPNs to secure our data, but it would have been reassuring to have a password-protected network. 6. Location: - Accessibility: The hotel’s location was very convenient—less than a 30-minute drive from the airport and less than a 30-minute walk from several tourist spots. This made it easy for us to explore the area without hassle. 7. Value for Money: For the price we paid, the hotel offered excellent value. The complimentary breakfast was a great touch, and the overall experience was well worth it. 8. Safety and Security: We felt very safe throughout our stay. The hotel’s environment was secure, and all interactions with staff and other guests were positive. 9. Overall Atmosphere: The general ambiance of the hotel was relaxing and welcoming. Although we didn’t see any other black guests during our stay, we never felt out of place. The staff and guests were friendly, and we felt completely at ease throughout our visit. 10. Departure and Check-Out: - Efficiency: Check-out was smooth and hassle-free, with no delays or complications. - Farewell Touch: Since we checked out early before breakfast time, the hotel staff thoughtfully packed us a takeaway lunch, which included an apple, a sandwich, and juice. This gesture really stood out to us and ended our stay on a high note. Final Thoughts: Our stay at Bristol Hotel was wonderful and filled with memorable moments. From the clean and cosy room to the exceptional staff and thoughtful touches, it was everything we could have hoped for in a family-friendly hotel. While there are a few areas for improvement—like the restaurant’s smoking issue and spicier food options—the positives far outweighed the negatives. We would highly recommend Bristol Hotel to anyone visiting Montenegro and would happily stay here again in the future!
