Stayed for 1 night. Nice place to stopover for us. We arrived at 1pm and there was a lady at reception. You can still self check in on the computer provided which was simple. We stayed in the next building behind which was literally down a pathway. When reception isn’t in/later in the day, you let yourself in with your key card on the main entrance and on the building entrance so very secure. A free Bern travel pass is included with the stay. They give you a code and you download the app which gives you information about the city. Room was a nice size and clean. Little kettle with tea and coffee, small tv, built in hair dryer and shampoo/body wash provided. Good location to the bus stop which was across the road and then 5min bus to the main train station. However if you come by train with luggage, take the bus! Maps told me it was less than 10mins away so we thought we would walk. Big mistake. It’s up a hill, quite a steep hill. n Breakfast was nice with a good selection of hot and cold food; cereals, yoghurts, fruit and pastry. Juices, coffee machine, hot chocolate and Ovaltine!

“No Complaints”

No complaints with my stay. It is convenient to the University and the central train station. Public transit service to it is very good. Staff was general helpful and the rooms were smartly decorated, even if they are pretty basic.

This hotel was selected for me by the University of Bern where I taught a summer course. The location is excellent, close to the university in a very nice neighborhood with shops and good restaurants within a short walk. The hotel itself is basic albeit functional. One asset that it has though is a nice small garden in the back. The main drawback was the lack of air conditioning during the hot summer. There was, however, a standing fan that was quite effective in keeping the place cool. The shower space was rather tight for a big guy like me. The reception has limited hours but can be contacted in the evening by a phone.

Six of us stayed for one night in three rooms, all three were really warm as there was no air con, just a floor fan. We had a really annoying ceiling light just outside the bathroom which came on every time you moved near it, particularly frustrating when you get up in the night and bathe the room in light. We also had a disturbed night as we were woken up at about 22.30 by someone coming into our room (my husband yelled at them - not sure who was more startled) and our room key didn’t work next day. When we asked reception about it next morning they weren’t particularly apologetic and blamed a sister hotel for allocating our room to someone else. Breakfast wasn’t great (not much choice, dry croissants) but the coffee machine made a good espresso.
