The location of this hotel was awesome. Great windows in the rooms and easy to navigate. The hotel breakfast was robust too. The bathroom was small and simple but totally fine. The shower was difficult to get to the right temp - it was either too cold or too hot, and there was a little bit of a smell of bathroom in the hotel. Otherwise was a great stay.

“Central location”

Great location and nice rooms! Quite dark as no central light so doing makeup in the am was hard work and the room could have done with a better clean. But only 2 minor issues. Breakfast was good with lots of continental stuff to choose from so over all very happy!

Great location, steps away from the main street , shops and attractions. Room was clean and had plenty of space. Heating was super efficient and we had to turn it down. Only complaint was the room had no central light so was quite dark but only a minor complaint. Staff very helpful Breakfast plentiful with good choice of continental style food. About 5 minute walk to his stop 6 Recommend this hotel for your city break and would definitely stay again

“Central & affordable but be warned nothing is cheap in Iceland - did I mention the cold!”

Ideally situated centrally amongst bars, places to eat and multiple bus stops within easy walking distance this one meets the needs of a short stay holiday maker in Reykjavik. We booked as part of a Hays Travel package which included a Northern lights tour, yes we did see them in April. The room we occupied was pretty basic , it had a TV and some coffee making facility. No tea or milk was on offer but downstairs in the 'Scandinavian' the breakfast was extensive and very tasty. Nothing cooked, no full English but there was more than sufficient choice to calm any breakfast hunger pangs. There was a hairdryer in the room and body shampoo on the wall but no toiletries /shower cap etc to speak of. Take your own if you book here. A few doors down is a great bookshop by day & music venue by night- a definite check out. The Rainbow Road runs behind the hotel which leads you up to the Lutheran Church. Both are a great photo opportunity. The Sun Voyager is a very short walk away- head for the sea basically. Another great photo op. We did the Golden Circle tour and visited the National Park, waterfalls, geisers, saw Icelandic horses and I loved the visit/lunch at the tomato growing farm. I know sounds dull but it was interesting how they've harnessed the natural Icelandic resources to grow tomatoes all year around. Amazing. Lunch was excellent too. Like everything in Iceland its not cheap but worthwhile all the same. Our tour guide for the Northern Lights and Golden Circle deserves a huge shout out. Himlur Peterson was an incredible tour guide and fascinating. I imagine he's engaged by Jet2 and worth every penny or ISK they pay him. Other attractions included Fly Over Iceland, I'd recommend this one. Its a longer walk out of the centre, basically on an industrial estate and for ISK 5950 we experienced a simulated fly over. Its quite breathtaking. We visited the Penis Museum which is novel, I can't think you'll see it anywhere else put it that way. We didn't get to see the Lava Show, on the same trading estate and costs ISK 5950. Three shows per day. Booking not required for this or Fly Over Iceland. Hard Rock Cafe is at the bottom of the street, we didn't visit it , its easy to locate at least. We did try out the Ice Magic bar which is under a tourist style store. Again noel but I didn't rate it. Don't buy the ticket for more that one drink if you do visit, you'll quickly run out of stuff to occupy yourself. The Drunk Rabbit is a canny Irish bar a short walk away. They show the footy and boxing etc and have live music. Don Bird serves during the day and he's very knowledgeable. Everything is expensive so be aware. A PINT IS ABOUT £12 We ate in a nice Italian place up from the Fron a couple of times. Two pizzas, a pint and a glass of wine was about £85 I kid you not. A sandwich in a supermarket is about ISK 1200-1500. Even the locals will tell you nothing is cheap. Everywhere takes cards , we found that nowhere wanted cash so we returned with a bag full of ISK and then had to exchange it to pay off the bill on our cards. Every hotel will have a free map at reception we used this to navigate our way around Reykjavik and it was more than sufficient for our needs (4 day visit).
