Very unexpected fabulous restaurant, top drawer. I had room 10, a great room just off the courtyard, bed was amazing, shower was good. Room was lovely and warm, snow outside Restaurant menu was limited but top class chef, I had lemongrass curry soup and a chicken dish for mains, unbelievable. The wine menu was incredible, waitress recommended a nice bottle, good value. I really enjoyed my visit, it opened my mind to history and culture of the area, the waitress was from Afghanistan and was superb at her job , she was also very pleasant and a pleasure to meet Great spot, I’ll be back, roads are a little tricky to get there in snow. The town looks amazing, hopefully next time, I’ll have time to explore Just one little tip, I called up to see if they had a room, yes 120€, i booked it on Hotels.com for 90€, it’s not always the case but always check

Lovely restful hotel. Very pleasant in every way. Thoroughly recommended. Comfortable rooms. Good food and service. Extremely restful. Wi-Fi is a bit hit and Miss but no complaints. Excellent value for money

“Exterior promises more than interior keeps”

The hotel is located at the end of a residential street with speed restrictions (walking speed only), at the start of the pedestrian zone of the historic city centre – convenient for exploring the latter, and wonderfully quiet at night (except when it rains – old buildings weren’t made for that…). … more

The hotel is located at the end of a residential street with speed restrictions (walking speed only), at the start of the pedestrian zone of the historic city centre – convenient for exploring the latter, and wonderfully quiet at night (except when it rains – old buildings weren’t made for that…). The hotel sits within an ensemble of beautifully restored historic buildings (albeit only on the outside); it offers a private parking lot just next door, with direct access to the courtyard. The reception left much to be desired (closed when arriving at 9 pm, although advised of late arrival; reservation in the name of the colleague who reserved for me, although she had written to correct that; problems with using the company credit card provided with the reservation…); this might have to do with staying off-season, but was not the case with other hotels in the area. The hotel rooms are in a different building from reception, crossing an uncovered courtyard (inconvenient when it rains); they have no elevator. The rooms have a reasonable size; mine had a level change / step between entrance / bathroom and bed, so not apt for disabled users. The interior design does not really reflect that it sits in a historic building – it is rather non-descript and not of a high standard, and already worn off in many places (my bedlight was broken off; worn-off steps in the stairs). An exception was the reasonably-sized bathroom, which was apparently renovated more recently (hardly any space to put your toiletries, though). The bed was a bit hard for my taste; doors and walls are not well sound-insulated – you will hear your neighbours (and they you…), windows cannot be fully darkened, as curtains are old and sagging and leave light through – not the best conditions for a peaceful night. The Wifi worked, although not exactly at high speed (even in the middle of the night, with no other users). The restaurant apparently closes ‘at whim’ – despite indicated opening hours until 22 h, it closed at 20 h (thus no opportunity to taste any of the tempting dishes on the photos…). The breakfast was minimal (a bread roll, a croissant, some jam, some charcuterie).
