“Reliable comfort on Palace Road”

Had a good stay at the Shangri-La. The hotel is well-located on Palace Road, which is very convenient. The breakfast is good and the room had a nice view of the city. Everything was consistent and comfortable—a very solid choice for Bangalore.

I stayed for 2 nights for work. The room was very large, with a desk, couch & table, plus a separate bath & shower. There was plenty of bottled water refreshed daily, plus a lovely selection of fruits and sweets at check in. The breakfast was expansive with local, western, and asian options, with many items made to order. Dont skip the dosas! There are plenty of staff everywhere who are always happy to help. The rooftop open air bar has great views. My one caveat is that everything feels a bit dated - from the decor to the fittings (several of the light switches showed extensive wear and were tricky to use). The roof bar felt like stepping into the 80s.

The property is well located in the heart of the city, with spacious, clean, and well-maintained rooms. The food quality was also good, which made our stay comfortable overall. However, I would like to share some feedback regarding the service experience, which did not meet the expectations associated with the Shangri-La brand. After checking in around 4 PM, we visited the B Café for coffee and a light meal, as we had missed lunch. We were informed that the café does not serve coffee and were advised to visit the lobby instead. This was confirmed by multiple staff members. While we accepted the explanation, the situation was a little surprising for a coffee outlet. Additionally, the staff appeared preoccupied and guest engagement could have been better. We then proceeded to the lobby and ordered coffee and sandwiches. With the coffee, one eggless cookie was served. When my wife politely requested an additional cookie, we were informed that it would be chargeable. While we respect hotel policies, the communication and overall presentation could have been handled more graciously. I also spoke with the supervisor, though the concern did not seem to receive much attention at the time. I have previously experienced excellent hospitality from Shangri-La in Delhi and Hong Kong, which is why this experience felt below expectations. I share this feedback constructively, hoping it will help improve service standards for future guests.

This was our second stay at the Shangri-La Bengaluru. It remains a dependable option in a very central location, though the property is beginning to show its age. Check our review of the Leela Palace for an alternative - the Shangrila-La offers better value for money while the Leela is more „old glory“. + Location – Central, close to Bengaluru Palace, City Hall and key institutions. View – Excellent city views from higher floors, particularly in Panorama rooms. Horizon Lounge – A pleasant retreat on the 17th floor offering a smaller but sufficient breakfast, as well as tea, cocktails and light dinner. Ideal for those wishing to avoid large buffet crowds. Italian restaurant – Well designed with surprisingly good pizza; a solid option for European comfort food. o Rooms – Our first room had an odor and we changed. The second was smaller but better. Upper floors are preferable for views. Rooms are functional and well laid out, though increasingly in need of refurbishment. Multi-cuisine restaurant / breakfast – Wide selection and decent quality, but often crowded and noisy; overall somewhat dated in atmosphere. Reception – Service varies depending on the staff member, noticeable on-the-job training. Gym and pool – Spacious and well equipped, yet ready for a modern refresh. - Courtyard – Not particularly inviting. Reservation process – Weak internal coordination and occasionally insufficient English skills. Horizon breakfast timing – Buffet closes exactly on time.
