Its an amazing location with beautiful views and peaceful environment to go on weekdays. The rooms were amazing as we booked premium category and they had new rooms allocated with washrooms still waiting for refurbishment. The washrooms exhaust are not effective much. The twin beds are the option and no kings or queen beds. Also the bed for the third person will make the room congested if requested. Meals can be better as the Buffet options for Lunch and Dinner are average but breakfast is better. Would recommend to try the restaurants around for other meals as limited menu options are available as they prefer to push the buffet. The gardens and rooms are well maintained and the teams are all helpful in all areas. Their is no swimming pool and kids activities are limited. However great place to stay with elderly families on weekdays as it's quite and serene.

It is a budget resort located on the banks of beautiful Vembanad lake in Kerala. The name is slightly misleading as it is not actually located at Kumarakom as the name implies but at Thannermukkom, about 18 km from Kumarakom. KTDC has got another resort named KTDC Water Scapes at Kumarakom. It is an average, affordable property where you can spend couple of days, with family in absolute calm and peace. Located away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, it sits in this quaint village named Thannermukkom. The rooms have decent space around the bed. Sufficient storage facility for luggage and clothes. Tea kettle and basic toiletries are provided. Room and bath room are clean, walls spotless. Room service is good. Prompt response to complaints or requests. The most striking aspect of this place is the very cordial and helping nature of the entire staff which is a pleasant surprise considering it is a government property. Right from the reception to room service and restaurant, the staff is lovingly friendly. Choice of food is very limited. Taste is average. The only meal my family enjoyed here is the vegetarian meals. Buffett breakfast depends on the occupancy. Being away from town, food really poses a concern since there is no other choice nearby. The nearest town is Cherthala, about 8 km away. You should book premium room facing the lake to enjoy full benefit of its location. Sitting in the veranda with a cup of tea looking at the calm, serene lake with House Boats sailing in distant water and the wild weeds drifting aimlessly is some thing you can cherish for a long time. However, I feel that infrastructure maintenance is not getting proper attention, though there is a good strength of maintenance staff for daily maintenance. The lawns are not properly manicured, childrens' playing equipments are broken, the restaurant chairs and room sofa cushions are stained. This property could be more desirable if the management focus on these issues. Last but not least, restaurant menu needs a good revamping.
