We only stayed one night on our way to Pondicherry and the hotel exceeded our expectation. The hotel is surrounded by well tended gardens with a swimming pool and we had a first floor room with a balcony overlooking the river Vennar in the main hotel. Our tour operator had suggested the rooms needed updating but ours was fine and had a huge two room bathroom which could have been modernised but had everything we needed. There are also two storey rooms in the garden each with its own outside seating. Staff were very helpful at both the reception and in the restaurant. Food was good with both a buffet or a la carte menu, which we had. There was a good choice of Indian, Chinese and Continental food and portions were more than adequate. We sat outside for the evening meal and were surprised that we had no problem with insect bites. The swimming pool needed refurbishment and was particularly difficult to climb the ladder out. About 15 mins drive outside Tanjore but if this is just a stop between tourist destinations it is ideal.

I stayed here during my tour of southern India. This is a nice location outside the city , by the river and overlooking gardens. I had a ground floor room, nicely laid out with a large bedroom/sitting area, a dressing room/wardrobe room plus large bath and shower room. Also a nice patio with table and chairs to sit out in. Lots of electrical sockets. Kettle, tea, coffee, bottles of water. Good a-c. Wi-fi started good and then less so. Real hangers in wardrobe. Safe. I had been told that there was a gym/fitness room. There is not. No a-c in public areas/restaurant. My experience of the meals was mixed to poor. I ate at what I regard as normal meal times and certainly times that the restaurant was meant to be open. Yet by early each evening when I came to eat the restaurant was closing. The choice at breakfast was poor. I had a nice meal from the a la carte on the first evening with free pakoras. The second evening I chose the buffet and the choice was very poor. There were musicians playing which was nice but a decent meal would have been nicer. My washing was done well and speedily.
