More than the lovely environment and quality of the amenities is the absolutely wonderful staff. They were polite, friendly, responsive and so very helpful. I thought the use of WhatsApp as the communication channel might be a bit problematic, but the staff make it work so well. I’ve stayed in staffed villas before and the staff seem to fade into the background and are there but everything is transactional. At Zin Canggu, the staff were never intrusive, it was much more a focus on the experience than transaction - that after this, I think is such a better way to visit Bali. The room we were in with the private pool was perfect for us. The sauna room & wellness spa was excellent also and incredible value for money.

“Great staff, amazing food”

Amazing location, outstanding service and nice amenities. Walking distance to the beach and easy to walk to nice Canggu streets and shops. At night you sometimes hear the music from the beach. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Value for money and nice Balinese atmosphere.

We stayed for six nights in one of the Teak Suites with shared pool access between four ground-floor rooms. The room itself was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. One thing to be aware of is that Room 204 is directly next to a staff entrance. From around 7:00 am each morning, we were woken by staff walking through, doors closing loudly, or equipment being moved. We had already unpacked and I didn’t want us to move, so we accepted the noise and having our curtains closed. I'd recommend requesting a different room, if you’re a light sleeper. The outdoor area is pleasant, with a shared pool exclusively for the four Teak Suites. However, there are only two sun loungers and four deck chairs for all four rooms, so seating is limited. We also noticed a faint sewage smell outside our room on a few occasions. I am not sire if this was coming from the nearby river or the hotel grounds. A bigger disappointment for us was the lack of direct sunlight around Room 204. We had specifically chosen this room hoping to relax by the pool in the sun throughout the day, but because it remained mostly shaded, we ended up using the hotel's other pools instead. It would be helpful if this was mentioned in the room description so guests know what to expect. The decking around the pool also needs some attention. Most boards were loose and springy, creating a trip hazard, and a few nails were sticking up above the wood. I'd recommend wearing footwear rather than walking barefoot in this area until it's repaired. In hindsight, we don't think the Teak Suites offer good value for the additional cost. We'd recommend saving some money and staying in one of the main hotel rooms instead. We also used two of the hotel's other pools, both of which we really enjoyed. It was refreshing to have several smaller pools spread around the property rather than one large, crowded central pool. We ate breakfast at Zin Café once and returned for lunch and dinner on another day. The food was good, with a Western-style menu, although the service was noticeably slow despite there being plenty of staff. The hotel's Zinner app made paying easy, although adding support for Apple Pay or Google Pay would make topping up your balance even more convenient. Thanks to paying with the Zinner app we were able to buy a small print from the shop to take home. Most mornings we had breakfast at Heven Restaurant, which was excellent. The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding. We'd happily rate it 10/10. The rooftop bar also has stunning ocean views, and the complimentary evening cocktail was a lovely touch. Overall, the hotel is beautifully designed and looks incredibly aesthetic in the photos. However, in person, there were several maintenance and privacy issues that made it feel less premium than the price suggests. We still enjoyed our stay, but knowing what we know now, we would have booked a different room rather than one of the Teak Suites.
