We stayed for one night at Mara river safari lodge and had a wonderful stay! The resort is built around theme of wildlife around Mana river in Africa. There is variety of wildlife and the various presentation on animals is amazing. The wonderful part is we get chance to feed the animals from the hotel room. They have wonderful restaurant inside it called Lion and we were greeted by a hostess Suwitri who was very warm and receptive. Would recommend Mana river lodge to anyone visiting Bali.

I had booked this hotel quite a while ago with us being huge animal lovers and I ll be honest, leading up to staying here I started having slight reservations on what it was going to be like. I will give my honest feedback both good and not so good. Firstly I was shocked and stunned by previous reviews stating that the staff at the hotel were rude and arrogant, I found this to be completely untrue and if anything, the absolute opposite. The two guys at reception helped us check in no problem and the concierge guy, we called him “Super Lee” was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble for him. This then takes me up the restaurant which in my opinion, the menu needs to be a bit bigger and the buffet changed so it’s not just the same food every other day. I appreciate not everyone stays for a week but that’s the only downside we found was it was a bit too repetitive so we founds ourselves going out in taxis at night to other restaurants. Going back to the restaurants there were so many fantastic. Staff but a certain lady stood out to us immediately and her name was Ayu Eka, she was just delightful and we looked forward to seeing her when she was on shift, she looked after us so well along with our other favourite staff members who I also feel need mentioning who were Agus Nova, Anik Allin, Juliantara & Suwitri, all these staff deserve a recognition in our eyes, they are a credit to your hotel. Now onto the rooms, fine although a bit tired looking and holes in curtains etc, could really do with being modernised now as the views are so fantastic but the rooms let it down a bit. We were in 110 and could not have been anymore happier with the view, in our opinion we felt it was one of or even the best room to have a full view of most of the animals and was easy to throw the carrots too, whereby other rooms were too far away and set back etc. The Safari park is great and the fact the Safari bus is included in your stay was fantastic, however the long dark haired girl checking the wristbands to access the Safari bus was nothing but a power trip and in our opinion with her attitude is in the wrong job. The Marine park is fantastic new addition to the park too. But on behalf of myself and my husband we absolutely loved staying at Mara and hope to return again some day in the future! Keep up the great work, job well done guys! 5*👍👏

It was our second time staying here with our kids, aged 7 and 8, and still a wonderful experience for all. Family room overlooks the pool, which itself faces the African Panorama with zebras and rhinos. Free daily carrots to your room, for use in feeding the zebras from your balcony or pool. Included: it's fun to be able to stroll into the park every morning right after breakfast. Daily park guided tram was good fun - we knew the sequence by heart after day 4, but still v fun to see all the animals up close! Twice daily tiger and Elephant shows are not to be missed. There's a free water park with fun slides for young families. My boys were also fascinated by the outdoor cultural fire show after dinner. Paid extras: Varuna show (incl the Marine Park walk before dinner) was great. Kids especially loved the Night Safari and Tiger feeding (with the tiger literally on top of the cage we were in!). Very attentive and friendly staff - special mention to Mr Dewa, who ferried us multiple times on the buggy, always with a smile. His colleagues were excellent as well. 🙏🏼

“Worth trying once and one night is enough.”

We’ve done the Safari Journey twice because my son loves it, and this time we wanted to get even closer to the animals, so we stayed at Mara Safari Lodge. Our room was part of the Swala Deluxe One-Bedroom Lodge package with Bali Safari Park Entrance and Safari Journey. The highlight was swimming while watching zebras and buffalos right in front of us — such a cool memory! From our balcony, we could also see giraffes, zebras, and buffalos. The hotel gave us a small basket of carrots to feed the animals, but you can’t really do it up close. My son and I ended up tossing them from the room, and most just fell into the river. For the experience of being surrounded by animals, it’s worth it — but honestly, one night is enough. On the downside, there were no slippers in the room, and the air conditioning was too noisy, which made it hard to sleep. When we sat on our balcony, water was dripping down from the room above as they dried their clothes, which wasn’t pleasant for us who wanted to sit down and enjoying the garden view with animals. Breakfast was great, with lots of choices and fun pastries the kids loved. We even had breakfast with a view of lions and other animals, plus an iguana inside the restaurant — very unique! The kids’ water slide was awesome, but it’s far from the room, so you’ll need a buggy ride. The landing pool for the long slide felt too shallow, which could be risky for both kids and adults. The staff were super friendly and helpful — from the bellboys to the receptionists. Special thanks to Pak Kadek for always offering buggy rides with a smile. Overall, it’s a unique stay with amazing animal views, fun activities, and great service — definitely worth trying once!
