About two weeks ago, i participated in Borobudur Marathon which the main area for the event is in the Borobudur Temple itself. What i was thinking when i joined this event, i would like to have somewhere to stay close to the main area for this event since the Marathon itself would take a lot of my energy. So i searched the internet and VOILA! Rumah Boedi is only about 3Km from Borobudur Temple! Without any hesitation, i booked the property for 2 nights. What i can say about this property is, all photos you got while searching in the internet can't describe the experience you will get when staying in this property. This property has a Modern Javanese architecture, which almost all building and equipment are made of woods, many statues and temple replicas are placed to make the ambience positively different, we can hear water sounds from the fountain while sitting in the open space, and above all of that, what i can conclude about the property is i feel like staying in a place where you feel like staying in nature, full of serenity, no city noises, and also homey and comfortable in the same time. This is a solitude place. Foods are great, their beverages are the best in Magelang, try their Lemongrass drink! They said all are homemade. Don't worry about rooms, linens and bed are clean, as well as the furniture and the bathroom. Wifi perfectly available everywhere. I will definitely will go back to this place if i have another chance to visit Magelang. In additional, i met the owner of this property and he was really pay attention to every aspect of hospitality. I felt like not staying in a hotel but in our own home. What i can tell you that this place is very recommended if you have a plan to Borobudur Temple or Magelang.

I was searching a place which near places of interest especially Borobudur Temple which only less than 10 minutes away. Perfect, not a hotel but homestay environment with very positive energy the minute you arrive. Attentive and prompt response with question I have prior of arrival was met, every body was friendly. We stayed 3 nights here and decide to dine here (for dinner) 2 nights in a row. Limited selection of food yet we feel at home, food cooked with tender loving care. -superb and delicious - value for money. We had a small villa for 1st night and decide to upgrade to bigger room and pleasant surprise as well. Met Pak Budi the owner who is friendly, offer lots of suggestion of places of interest. Suggest to take a scroll around the compound and lots place to relax, enjoy the remote quiet and peaceful garden. The back garden is one of my favourite spot - great place to meditate and yoga which we did on our last morning before departure. Please don't expect a luxury 5 star hotel standard, but more a homestay with clean room and bed. Need some minor maintenance like a coat of paint, repair hair line crack mark at the walls and better water pressure (shower). Is just a suggestion not a complaint. Definitely will revisit and stay here again. Recommend for those who seek a place as a group to retreat. Thumb up and keep up the great work and look forward to visit again. Despite its non-functioning website and wrong phone numbers everywhere (the one you want is +62 821-3476-2834) this place does exist and is operating. A mixed experience. The pros are that it’s an attractive and peaceful place with plenty of garden in which to sit and read; the staff are lovely; and the Indonesian food was excellent. The solicitous owner is keen to make your time enjoyable. He also immediately understood my veganism and ensured a steady stream of increasingly esoteric and mostly delicious vegan Indonesian dishes from the kitchen for me, which I appreciated. The cons include that it’s a little dilapidated, the room could done with redecoration and rewiring, and are musty upholstery and soft furnishing that don’t really work in gardens and pavilions in a hot, humid climate. Food and drinks, though excellent, are overpriced. The owner’s enthusiasm for looking after you is a little overwhelming and misjudged. And we were unimpressed by his charging us, for a third night, double what we’d paid online for the first two nights, having said he’d give us a ‘fair price’ for that extra night — a figure that was reduced only marginally when I raised an eyebrow, making the whole stay frankly overpriced for what it was. Lonely Planet gives this place a star and writes of a ‘magnificent garden’ and a ‘magical retreat and spa’. If those were once true they aren’t now, and it’s far from Lonely Planet ‘star’ quality. It’s not bad, but you can find more magic for less money at many mid-range rural guesthouses around Indonesia. Walking around, it looked like there may be a fair few in Borobudur. Note that the temple is no longer open on Mondays, and you can only walk around the base of it at the moment — not that the organisation that runs it thinks this is information worth mentioning on its website (where they’re even happy to sell you a Monday ticket online). The temple is, despite all that, astonishing and well worth travelling to see.
