“Good experience”

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very convenient for visiting the city. Because it was hit we particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and other hotel facilities. The staff were very kind and helpful.

“Leaky, Noisy and Arty! Sadly we would rate 3.5* if we could...”

As my partner’s offices are located nearby and they had a few meetings to attend, we booked 2 nights at The Pullman Central Park.   Our room wasn’t ready on arrival, and so the friendly receptionist said she would WhatsApp when our room was ready. Off we went to the nearby mall for a lovely lunch.    As promised the WhatsApp arrived and we headed back, collected our luggage and onto our suite.    The room corridors are adorned with more Pop Art. The property can certainly be described as arty. Some of the paintings, sculptures and installations are a bit wacky/odd. I loved the floor projection, of beetles/insects near the elevators but I guess they are not for everyone. The bikini-clad babies were certainly not to our taste. The suite consisted of a sitting room and bedroom, with the bathroom off the bedroom. The walls are a dark grey colour, with a concrete finish and the industrial steelwork added to the look.   It was a little scuffed and marked in places. Reception had said renovation work was being carried out on our floor and we did pass ongoing work, but weren’t inconvenienced by it.    Both rooms had floor-to-ceiling windows, giving a spectacular vista. Unfortunately these also leaked badly. On arrival, we noticed puddles on the window casings in the bedroom, and mopped this up. A downpour then had rain running from the roof to the floor. We decided to contact staff as the rain was also pooling in the living room, right over the power sockets.    A very cheerful maintenance man came and checked out the impromptu water-feature, which was escalated to the very helpful and friendly Joshua, the Asst Front Desk Manager.   Apologising he allocated us a new room and offered to help us move our luggage when we were ready. We didn’t want to give anyone extra work so merely moved ourselves. It wasn’t a huge deal.    Our new suite had the same amenities, a comfy bed and deep soaking tub, with the wonderful view, and we slept well. The Executive Lounge is hard to miss, with the entrance flanked by more ‘leg’ sculptures. The space inside is modern decor throughout.   With smiling staff, we enjoyed the nibbles and pots of tea. Cocktail hour was a little stilted, and to get a drink took an age. It seemed that some of the staff ere not exactly sure how to mix cocktails; it took 20 minutes to get a drink, when there were less than 10 guests in the lounge.    It was also a little odd to receive WhatsApp messages asking us to select our breakfast choices, in advance and also to provide what time we would be at breakfast. I never quite know what I am in the mood for until the day. I would also say that the breakfast was lukewarm.   On our first night there was a corporate event, with a cowboy theme, taking place and so the whole reception, bar and balcony areas were taken over, so even if you could bear the DJ din, there was nowhere to sit.    As Accor Platinum we did politely request a check-out time of 1330 but this could not be accommodated and so this made us have to cut our visit to the nearby aquarium short. This receptionist was quite dismissive.   We like the Central Park mall, open spaces and location and are glad we experienced the hotel but there are other places we would certainly chose before PJCP. If you go just don't say we didn't warn you about the dancing infants!
