This is one of the nicest properties I have ever stayed in. The service from everyone was outstanding, from the servers in the restaurant to the lady at the reception desk, who helped us carry our bags to our room. We stayed in the Deluxe King Cabin, and it was divine. We had unparalleled views of the lake, and we loved the wood-burning fireplace. On arrival we received a bottle of wine, snacks, and two metal water bottles. On the second day we received a scented candle. The best part about staying at the lodge is that you are able to access the otherwise forbidden road to Moraine Lake in your private vehicle and park at the lodge. As others have noted, after the tour buses leave at 7 PM, you have the place to yourself. The cost to stay here is stunningly expensive, but if you can afford to stay for a night or two, it is well worth the investment. This is a very unique property.

Absolutely fantastic stay here for 6 nights with my wife. I couldn’t rate this place more highly. It has everything that you need for the perfect stay in the Canadian Rockies. Firstly it has the best views you will probably ever experience in a hotel. If it didn’t exist you would think that someone had created the view by asking AI to create the perfect mountain scenery. Best still, because Parks Canada restricts access after 7pm, you pretty much have the place to yourself. My wife and I spent 30 minutes up on the Rockpile alone one evening. When you consider the 500+ people up there at any point during the rest of the day you realize how lucky you are. The hiking options (especially Sentinel Pass) were just awesome. Secondly the rooms are perfect. Not big, but completely in keeping with the surroundings with a glorious wood burning fireplace, which we used every night, less for heat than for atmosphere. Thirdly, the food in the restaurant is wonderful. We had breakfast every day and dinner 3 times during our stay. The lamb was particularly good. The wine list is great as well with a good balance of Canadian and European wine. If I had one minor gripe it would be that it would have been good if the menu changed a little. It’s the same every day. Lastly (and most importantly) it has really great staff. From check in to check out it was incredible to see such a happy, friendly and welcoming team. On reception, in the restaurant, the house keeping team were all superb. All the more remarkable given that they seemed to come from every corner of the commonwealth. I should make a special call out to the Dude who gives the talks 3 times a week in the evenings. We went to all three. They were super informative about the local flora and fauna, incredibly insightful (he predicted accurately where we might see a bear), and very funny. A real highlight. What the lodge doesn’t have are televisions, a bar, a spa, a casino, a swimming pool, dry cleaning etc. if you need any of them, go elsewhere. But if you do you will miss staying in one of the most extraordinary places on earth. L

Moraine Lake Lodge was one of the most memorable parts of our trip—truly a unique experience! The location is absolutely stunning, and staying right by the lake gave us access to quiet and peaceful moments especially once the day visitors left. Dinner at the lodge was outstanding—easily one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. It’s definitely a splurge, but 100% worth it for the quality and setting. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. We actually realized after leaving that we had forgotten our passports in the in-room safe—definitely a panic moment—but the team went above and beyond. They safely delivered them to the local police station for us to pick up, which we are so grateful for. That level of service speaks volumes. Highly recommend Moraine Lake Lodge for anyone looking for a special, once-in-a-lifetime kind of getaway. Yes, it's a bit of a splurge—but for the setting, the food, and the exceptional service and the unlimited canoe use, it's absolutely worth it.

There are a number of Five Star Reviews and I can agree with most of them, but here is a little practical information if you are looking to book. First there is some sticker shock to stay at Moraine Lake. Our King room in the main building was US $2,395 for two nights in September 2025. Room is nice, but keep in mind that you are really paying for this stellar location. Parking is extremely limited, just enough spots for hotel guests and larger SUV's will have a tough time finding an adequate spot. The included breakfast is by timed reservation and was very good with about a half dozen substantial choices. They were happy to accommodate me with wheat toast and bacon which were not individual menu items. The lunch, also included, is very small and limited with rolls, soup and charcuterie. Could have been better. There is tea and cookies in the afternoon. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is expensive. Our meal was $198, the most expensive meal we had on this trip. If you don't want to eat "big", there is no other option but to get food and snacks from the little store which CLOSES at 4 pm. Make sure you have water and snacks for the evening before the witching hour at 4 pm. No television of cell service, but hey do have wifi which worked fine for email and messages. The are a ton of day trippers that come up by shuttle during the day, but they are limited to the little store and gift shop. Only guests are allowed in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Little to do other than hikes or rent a canoe or relax in the scenery. So, for some people a day trip on the shuttle may be all you need to see the lake. A nice experience, and glad we stayed for the two nights, but not a place to return to again and again.
