First impressions of the hotel were great, especially after staying in a different hotel in Sauze last year that just wasn’t up to standard. The novelty of the floors at Hotel Torre was cool and the room had recently been renovated, very stylish, spacious and just what we needed for a snowboarding break. Small fridge too! Unfortunately our TV was not a smart TV like many others (we went with 70 friends!) - my partner was injured and so couldn’t snowboard for the week, so was disappointed that we did not have a smart TV. When we arrived, for the first few days, smoke alarms and fire call points were not present with just cables hanging out! Totally wouldn’t be allowed in the UK! Thankfully this got sorted by the end of our trip. The lifts were very slow and temperamental, and when staying on the 6th floor, with an injury, we were somewhat reliant on them! The door to our room did not seal properly, the room was extremely hot with the window only opening a little at the top, however, this created a very noisy draft from the door, and in turn dragged up some awful hydrogen sulphide smell from the drains! The food had good variety and in the main kept us both happy. The lack of tap water available at dinner, requiring guests to buy bottled water just wasn’t good enough, when the bar prices were so expensive too! Most of the staff were friendly and more than happy to help with questions about local arrangements. All in all, it was a nice stay, but it definitely could have been better!

“Disappointing family holiday”

Arrival shambolic with no check-in until 3pm despite arrival in resort at 12. Ski hire not available until 3pm either so other than eat lunch, not much to do. Reception / bar area of hotel rather tired, lifts very tempremental. Rooms a good size but bathroom looking tired and poorly touched up. School groups noisy, and the open plan nature of the hotel allows sound to echo. Dinner plentiful but annoying that you have to buy bottled water. Breakfast less appealing, poor choice of cereals. Most disappolinting is that the hotel is described as a spa and wellness hotel. To be clear, it is absolutely NOT. The spa is located oposite, and is run entirely separately. Entrance is for a spa experience and the price certainly reflects this. Reluctant to alliw entry for gym or pool use only. The mandatory towel, slippers and swim hat are all supplementary to qoted price. Lockers are not lockable & multiple signs remind customers that belongings are left in changing rooms at own risk. The gym was pittiful, with majority of machines out of order ( despite this being peak 1/2 term season). Regarding pricing, the suggestion is that La Torre guests have a preferential rate - v vague. Price differs day-to day and depends on own assertive negotiating, which is far from relaxing. All in all, a disappointing holiday in a tired hotel. I would say 3* at v best. And those who market it as a Spa hotel are being frankly disengenuous.
