Clearly not originally intended as a hotel, there had to be some compromised made regarding the furnishing of at least our room, and I imagine at least most if not all of them - but overall we had a pleasant stay still. So, first things first: This is an improvised hotel. What is was before I have no idea, but it was once built as something else and is now being used as accommodation. This is apparent in many details, especially regarding the layouts of the place and how the space is used, not just in the room. This is not a negative at all, I really liked it, but since some people like the very classic hotel experience I wanted to mention it. The place is run very well and can very easily keep up with regular hotels otherwise. Decorative elements throughout the entire hotel are a bit peculiar, and I absolutely loved it. With that out of the way: Room 101 is spacious enough for two people, bedding was good, the small private terrace was fantastic. Small fridge in the room is very convenient, including complimentary bottled water. Coffee was provided as well. The elevated floor on which the bed is located made for an interesting standing table and worked really well in that regard, even if not intentional. Should you have trouble walking stairs though, especially at night / in the dark, make sure you don't book this room in particular. The bed is only reachable by a small staircase. Also, since other reviews mentioned the lack of a table, we did have a small desk and chair in our room. The communal area outside the rooms is well equipped as well, but not being allowed to actually use the cooking top is a frustrating. I assume there's some regulatory or insurance issue at play here, but if we can't use it get rid of it. Microwave was available for use. Large fridge in the communal area, including a freezer, is great. Room was clean overall, we found some smaller stains on the sheets however which are absolutely avoidable. Also some minor details, like some of the stair edge profiles coming off, and the bathroom cabinet semi-automatic closing mechanism being annoying to use. Otherwise the bathroom was well equipped and clean as well, but sadly had an unpleasant metal smell throughout the entire stay that was impossible to vent out. I imagine it's from old pipes, just speculation though. For us it was alright, might be an issue if someone is very sensitive to smells. If this was particular to our stay or that specific room only I also don't know, but I almost imagine it is the case since no other review seems to mention it. Also, since some of the reviews here do mention noise issues: we had none of them. You absolutely can hear people walking upstairs occasionally but it was never troublesome, nor loud. Location is amazing, pretty much everything there is you can conveniently walk to, including all bus stations needed to go... pretty much anywhere around Bologna. Central train station is also within walking distance, ~15 minutes. If you like being able to return to during the day between activities for a small break, Mitodea will be hard to beat. Front desk is super friendly, and very easily reachable via WhatsApp. Bag drop off is available for post-checkout and I imagine pre-checkout as well, the latter we had no use for though so didn't bother finding out. Room cleaning during the stay is optional, which I'm a big fan of. The sometimes-there front desk dog is an absolutely champ. Lastly, pricing is incredibly fair for what you get and I have paid more for worse rooms and service before, and any complaints I have had during this review are minor, general complaints that are easily rationalized by the value proposition here. Overall a very pleasant stay, and should we come back to Bologna this would be the main consideration for accommodation again. If you're fine staying in something that sometimes feels a bit improvised, but competently so, I can only recommend.

“Great Time In Bologna”

Viola was great. The hotel has a great art vibe and in the heart of the downtown. It was nice to have access to the kitchen and kitchen sink. Very clean hotel!

“Room 101 was great!”

Room 101 is large, with a little terrace and a bed on elevated level. Good quality toiletries, clean. Good coffee and water in the mini fridge. We will be back!
