My older cousin and I went to Florence in December and spent four days there. We did not know where to stay, and finally we chose “Hotel Machiavelli Palace”; we found an offer and the value for money was a bargain! It was definitely a good choice. It is true that the hotel and its furniture is old; nevertheless, the staff always tries to keep it nice and clean so that every customer feels comfortable. As you walk in, it may seem like a mysterious space for how it looks inside, but you will notice that is, indeed, a cozy place. The room was fitted with a wardrobe, whose size was perfect for our three-day-stay, and a big bathroom with always two towels for each of us. The shower was spacious and had shampoo and gel foam in it. The only thing I did not like were the beds because they were small, which sometimes can be a bit uncomfortable, but we managed to sleep well anyways by putting them together. Lamps and furniture inside of it were old, which I can understand that people do not like it, but I found the beauty in them because I like vintage stuff. A curious thing about the hotel is that every time you leave you must give the key to the staff. Some people do not feel comfortable with it, but I think it is a good idea to prevent losing it during the day. All these things that you may not like remain secondary when you get to interact with the staff. What a nice people! Always kind, willing to help, and trying their best. They helped us since the beginning of our trip; providing us information on where to eat, or when is it better to visit the different museums or sculptures. Also, on our last day, we left the hotel at 10am and came back at 5pm; during that time, they kept our luggage without any charge or deposit, which is not always like this! Another thing that was pretty good was the breakfast; although you can have breakfast somewhere else outside the hotel, I would recommend it 100%. For 10 euros you can eat whatever you want: fruit, toasts, cereals, croissants, and both coffee and juice are also included in the price, which in other hotels sometimes charge you separately. I want to continue referencing the location, how wonderful! You have everything you need when walking 5 minutes: one of the most prestigious museums in the world (Galleria Dell’a Academia) where you can see David de Michelangelo, the majestic “Duomo di Firenze”, and a renowned restaurant in the city center where you can eat Florence famous “spaghetti alla carbonara tartufata”. The train station is also 4 minutes away, so it is easy to move around if you need to go anywhere else that is outside the city, or to the airport. I cannot finish without talking about the rooftop. What a nice view! When we were there no one was outside as it was cold, but I can imagine how good would be the feeling up there in Spring or Summer when it is warm. The rooftop is not that high, but you can see the “Duomo” just right in front of your eyes, which makes it beautiful. When balancing our stay, I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to remain in a cozy place, comfortable and right next to whatever you need or want to see in the city. You don’t need more than what Machiavelli Palace can offer, so think of it as a part of your trip to Florence.

Great location if you’re arriving by train. Staff very helpful. Two rooms in our group had to be changed, one due to unpleasant toilet smell and other due to uncomfortable bed and loud outside noise. Great location if you’re arriving by train. Staff very helpful. Two rooms in our group had to be changed, one due to unpleasant toilet smell and other due to uncomfortable bed and loud outside noise. Second change was again problematic as they had workmen doing renos in adjacent rooms overnight. Rooms have small fridges which our group enjoyed. Breakfast was not free but 10 euro per person. Hotel advertises its rooftop terrace and although it has a lovely view it’s not set up for enjoying over a drink during cold months. Close to laundromat, restaurants, markets etc. Would use again

“Cosy small hotel with a nice rooftop”

My Wife & I stayed at the hotel during the 2024 New Year. we walked from the central station to the hotel easily. My Wife & I stayed at the hotel during the 2024 New Year. we walked from the central station to the hotel easily. Still, maybe because of the narrow pavement, it was a bit difficult with heavy bags, and the hotel receptionist explained the whole city and gave us a beneficial map & kind from him, the room was ok for us, only the water pressure was a bit low. and the hotel has a rooftop with a very nice view of the city.
