Reasonable rates, Excellent location, 5 minute walk from the Ghetto, Scrupulously clean, helpful concierge, only six rooms on the same floor,which is perfect for family gatherings,nicely furnished rooms, An excellent bargain for the price. Highly recommended.

Earlier this month my wife and I enjoyed eight nights at Residence Regola. I found it on line a lot easier than I found it "in the flesh," so to speak. The sign by the door is inconspicuous, to say the least, and the door itself does not seem like it could possibly lead to a boutique hotel of such quality. And yet the moment you enter and climb up to the first floor, you find yourself in a different world. I'm not sure about the official distinction between a "residence" and a "hotel." The only one I could detect is that the reception desk is only only from 9 am to 9 pm. Aside from that, everything else was the same as a hotel except the scale: there are only six rooms at Regola, six recently-refurbished, sleekly-decorated rooms. Beyond the rooms and the counter, there is a hall with clear plastic tables and chairs for breakfast, and a tiny but lovely little terrace, that served my wife as an occasional workspace. One of the nicest features of Regola is the three-person reception staff, with Daniela leading the way. She was, in fact, the one who met me there two weeks before my wife arrived, allowing me to inspect the surroundings so I would know exactly what we were getting into. But all three were equally helpful when it came to figuring out the best bus lines to get from point A to point B. Perhaps the greatest amenity of Regola is its location. It is right off the little pedestrian street that everyone uses when they make their way from the Campo de' Fiori to Trastevere, the street that essentially becomes Ponte Sisto. The adjacent Piazza della Trinità dei Pellegrini is, for me, the perfect point of departure for pleasant walks filled with cafes and shops in all directions: north to Navona, south to Trastevere, west along Via Giulia, and east toward Piazza Margana. The same piazza also features Sto Bene, the wonderful little salumeria / sandwich shop that, given its proximity to Regola and the friendliness of its owners, became our go-to place for lunch and sometimes dinner. I hesitate to recommend Regola this highly because I want to make sure there is a room for me when I return.

It started on the wrong foot. After my international travel I arrived to drop off my luggage and no one answered my many attempts at the buzzer into the building. I called twice and no answer. I’m sure they were expecting me as they arranged airport transportation. Finally I got into the building as someone was leaving. The room was fine. The desk is ok for one day but not longer. The shower was small but had lots of hot water and good pressure. The bed is ok. The location was near many things and felt safe. Between the street, reception, and adjoining rooms, the room was a bit noisy. You can order complementary breakfast to be delivered to your room which was good.

The only reason I failed to give this property "excellent" are the stairs (not too many), and the "elevator". The elevator should be on some sort of historical status. I think it is nice to keep some of the "old" with the new. It does add a sort of "history" or "novelty" to the building; especially if it was part of the building when it was constructed. Yes, it does run on electricity, not like it's larger cousin in the Colosseum where people were pulling on a rope from the basement. It is just SMALL and OLD. I use a walker to get around and it was a challenge to get in or out. Now that I think about it, maybe I should go with an EXCELLENT rating because of the elevator. You need to see this wonderful machine in action. NOW, let me move on to the Residence itself. The building appears to have been completely renovated recently. Very nice. It seems as though there were two or three people there most, if not all, the time. They were excellent. Someone was always at the ready to help me with the stairs. The room (with one stair) was very nice. I like showers and they had one. Oh, one nite we did have a little frivolity emanating from the street below; it didn't last too long. Rome? There was good selection of breakfast items to choose from. The property is in a great location. Yes, I would recommend the Residence Regola . . . you just have to ride in an elevator this old.
