We've just got back today from a lovely stay at Villa Pagoda. We couldn't fault it. The hotel building itself is very grand from the outside and stunning inside. True Italian charm! Marble floors, a beautiful lounge and dining room, wonderful views and if you're happy to do a 10-minute walk its position in terms of access to Nervi, the Passegiata and the station for trains to Genoa is perfect. The food was all delicious - lots of choices for dinner and all of excellent quality. Breakfast is amazing, with everything you could ever want! Ava the waitress was a delight. Friendly, funny and really good at her job. The waiter at lunch and at our two dinners there was charming and very helpful, as was the chap who ran the bar and helped out as a waiter when needed. We had a 4-night stay - our first two nights were in a Superior Room - which certainly was gorgeous - we had a sea view and a balcony. Then we had 2 nights in a Comfort Room. It was our choice when booking to change rooms after two nights. The difference in price is certainly reflected in the room which of course you would expect. The Comfort Room shown on the website though looked very different from ours, so there may be a variation between Comfort Rooms. You have to bear in mind it's such a lovely old building - rooms are bound to be different. Anyway - we were fine in our room. The only other thing I would say, or suggest, is that as there was limited space for sunloungers around the pool, some of the canopied seating areas near the pool could be removed to fit more sunloungers in. But this is minor. We loved the hotel and had a fabulous stay.

“Good hotel near Genova ”

We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel in Nervi (Genova) while we were traveling in Italy. The hotel has been renovated recently with classic Italian style. We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel in Nervi (Genova) while we were traveling in Italy. The hotel has been renovated recently with classic Italian style. Near Nervi park, you can have access directly from the private passage to the walking area by the sea.The hotel is very clean. Great breakfast (buffet with English, European, Italien breakfast and fresh fruits). We had a spacious room with a view on the sea. The hotel has also a small pool which can be perfect for children. Definitely a great calm place with few minutes drive to Genova.

The hotel is situated in a very quiet location overlooking the sea surrounded by a quaint village. Next door there is a 'park' with a live classical music concert which greeted us on arrival. The villa is exactly that, a large villa with only 17 guest bedrooms. It is decorated in traditional Italian style. It is beautiful. The gardens are large. There is an outside swimming pool. Our room was large and had a breathtaking view of the gardens and sea. But, the bathroom was internal and hot and stuffy. The bed is a bit old - if they simply put a topper on the mattress it would still feel luxurious. The air con is not particularly powerful either. So not quite 5 stars - but the decor of the room is exquisite. You should also be aware that the train runs every 15 mins or so directly in front of the gardens so with the window open, you hear it, but not if the window is shut. The staff are lovely and attentive. I would strongly recommend this for couples seeking a quiet relaxing spot. And by the way - it is 5 minutes to the train station with trains regularly to Genoa, Portofino and the Cinqueterra so this is very well located.

We stayed in Villa Pagoda for four nights as a family of five with children aged 5, 14, 16. Overall, the hotel made a good impression. It has the character that is often missing from the chain hotels. On the plus side also: great location, friendly staff, very good breakfast (although I do not quite understand the reason to charge 7 EUR for an omelette, given the hotel's high prices and 4 star classification). On the minus side: proximity of the train track (if you prefer to sleep with your windows open, the first train at about 05:00 would probably wake you up); quite small rooms (we had a two-room family suite and it turned out to have very small windows, very little space and no balcony at all); limited choice at dinner (the hotel does offer a half-board meal plan, but as we seemed to be the only ones having this option during our stay, the restaurant struggled to offer anything new each night and even not the whole standard menu was available, although the food itself was quite good). And last, but not least. One evening when we returned to the hotel, we found that the whole yard is full of parked cars. The hotel was hosting a wedding on that day. We were not warned in advance, but the worst thing was that there was loud music and even louder people under our windows until 1 a.m. - when complained about it at check-out, I received no apology, not to speak about any compensation. I understand that in Italy it can be different from some other places (where we come from it would be simply illegal and thus prosecuted), but I think more care should be given to the hotel's 'normal' guests in case of such special occasions.
