The hotel was just recently opened, and it shows - the rooms, reception, bar/ cafe, bathrooms and rooms are all new and stylish. The rooms are equipped with bottled water, a hair dryer, and even small complimentary dental and shower kits etc. It is located directly at one of the busier streets, but in a village as small as Villongo, that really doesn't mean much. Right next to the hotel is the cafe/ bar with a wonderful terrace, so you can either stroll into the (albeit small) village for a cappuccino, stay right at the hotel, or take a ride down to Sarnico or the surrounding places. The owner, Sergio, is the most helpful person I have met. No taxi to take me down to Sarnico? No problem, he just calls a friend to take me. A wedding guest is lost? No problem, he starts making calls to find her and gets his whole network involved. Apparently, Sergio was also a great help when the wedding was planned, suggesting florists and restaurants - all out of the goodness of his heart, with no financial interest at all. Breakfast is served in the basement, which might be the only less-than-perfect part of the hotel - it misses some charm, but the continental breakfast is great, and I preferred getting a bite at the Pasticceria Silvio in town in any case, watching the typical Italian village life. Around the corner is a supermarket, too, so you can easily When you share a room, you should be comfortable with each other, though - the bathroom is separated from the room with a milk glass wall... We had a delightful stay in the Hotel Piccolo Principe (The Little Prince - the book is even available at reception) and cannot thank Sergio and his staff enough for the wonderful time we had in Villongo.

“Modern, eco-friendly hotel near Iseo and the wineries”

My husband and I stayed for one night. The hotel is surprisingly modern with an interesting fresh design. Everything seems new. When we arrived, the host offered us a choice between two rooms on the first floor. Our room was large, very clean, and very quiet despite the fact that it faced the main road. The wi-fi was strong and incredibly fast - in fact, the fastest we experienced during our 11 days in Italy. There is an elevator, which was a pleasant surprise at a smaller property like this. The breakfast is continental Italian with lots of pre-packaged items (such as cheeses and cookies/pastries), but there was fresh fruit and the espresso was excellent. The one thing we could not quite figure out was the location. The hotel is in a village (the modern, residential, not-very-picturesque kind). It is on a main road, with nothing of interest immediately around it. That being said, it is close to Corte Franca (which is where we were heading for Franciacorta tastings), and within a quick drive (10 minutes to Sarnico and about 25 to Iseo) from Lake Iseo. So it's convenient to lovely places, but not right in the middle of the action. We found it a great choice for the money. Neither host speaks perfect English, but it's more than adequate to communicate. The morning of our departure, Sergio was extremely helpful in coordinating a wine tasting reservation for us at Berlucchi. He even printed us the confirmation and directions to the winery. I would have given this property five stars were it not for the air conditioning. We stayed there during the extreme July heatwave, and it was not working (the room did not get below 28 degrees Celsius, which was better than outside, but definitely not cool). It seems that the property is on geothermal heat (which we appreciated from the eco standpoint), and the cooling system was apparently overwhelmed by the heat. To be fair, the female host seemed genuinely distressed about it, and worried whether we had had a good night's sleep.

We booked this hotel last minute, when a holiday in the Alps was ruined because of the bad weather there. And we're glad we did: this little gem close to Lago D'Iseo (about 10 car kilometres) was a sweet suprise. The room we had was not too big, but stylishly decorated (mix of old refurbished and new) with everything you need present. The bed is good, with a firm matress. The room is kept clean well. The breakfast is, like most places in Italy, not really ehhh continental, but there is a good choice of dolces, and, of course, the coffee you get is great. The really fun part here is the couple that runs the place. They are really nice people, which try to help you out as much as possible. The conversations we're having are a mix between kind of English and Italian, and they really try hard. Because of this you feel welcome, and after a day you feel at home. The reason Hotel Piccolo Principe gets 4 stars is because of the location. Villongo isn't really a place where something happens, and the hotel itself is located in a sort of residential area, along one of the main roads. So everytime you want to do something, you have to take the car to other villages like Sarnico (5km), Iseo (12km), Lovere (25km), Bergamo (35km) or Brescia (40km). But other than this, Piccolo Principe is a good place to stay.
