We had an exceptional experience at the Hotel Forum. The rooms were simple, but very nice. Our room overlooked the street and had a great view of Mt. Vesuvius, and even though it faced the street, it was very quiet. This is the first time I have stayed at a hotel where the reality was as good or better than the pictures on their website. The restaurant had a beautiful view of the courtyard with orange and lemon trees. The main courtyard near the entrance was equally beautiful with organs and lemon trees and a great place to relax with a drink after a day of touring. The staff was very nice, but a special thanks to Elana in the restaurant. Our first night there, after a long travel day we were exhausted. She invited us to eat in the dining room long before they normally served dinner and it was delicious. She was also very friendly and breakfast and helped us with our attempts to learn the language. Lastly, location for Pompei was excellent. Thirty yards from one of the entrances to Pompeii, and ten minute to Pompei train station (a longer, but still easy walk to Pompei-Scavi translation.) Would highly recommend.

This is a excellent hotel. We stayed two nights here in the junior suite number 21. It’s located on the first floor just behind the receptionist desk. It was spacious and clean. The king size bed was comfortable . Not much of a view from the balcony but it was quiet and peaceful. The only issue was there could be more light in the shower. It’s right across the street from the entrance to the ruins and walkable to shopping and several restaurants. The breakfast had a large variety of items including scrambled eggs and bacon! They give you a card to use to access a parking lot just up the street for free parking. The hotel is kind of difficult to find because it is set back from the road. You are able to pull into the courtyard to unload your luggage.

“For wheelchair users, be aware the hotel is not 100% step free”

I agree with (almost) everything other reviewers have said about Hotel Forum Pompei: it is in a delightful setting - the two gardens with their lemon trees are beautiful and so calming. However, my wife is disabled and uses a manual wheelchair: the hotel is NOT step-free. There is a lift, but Room 48, to which we were first assigned, is on the first floor and then up seven steps! The hotel quickly re-thought and offered us Room 43 for the rest of our stay: this is on the ground floor, but access is still up two steps and we were not offered a ramp. Breakfast is in the very nice basement restaurant, but, when you get out of the lift, there are still two steps down! A disabled person has to be able to negotiate a couple of steps out of the wheelchair, or Hotel Forum Pompei is NOT the hotel to choose. Internet coverage in the hotel is poor: seemingly every couple of rooms have their own wifi ID and password, they don't always work. If you need frequent access to the internet (for route planning, say), this gets very frustrating. Hotel Forum Pompei IS opposite the Pompeii ruins entrance: it's the EASTERN gate, which is described as leading to the "disabled friendly" route through the ruins. The Pompeii site is certainly not completely disabled friendly whichever entrance one uses, and the most spectacular (and famous) ancient artefacts are more easily accessed via the WESTERN gate. The 1.7km walk along via Roma to the western gate is a total nightmare with a wheelchair: uneven road surface, bumpy pavements AND no dropped kerbs. Get a taxi - but be warned: the hotel-booked taxi charged 20€ for the journey. What a rip off! The hotel breakfasts are excellent. The bar snacks (toasted sandwiches, etc.) are good. The restaurant menu meals are disappointing: my wife's steak was 50% gristle, and the guest at a neighbouring table had the same experience.
