“Super Friendly, Clean and Charming!”

We travelled in wonderful Puglia as part of a coach trip and used this hotel as a base. On arrival we were greeted by a smiling, enthusiastic reception staff who for the duration of the trip, were ultra helpful and friendly. (Elena and Maria especially!) Our room on the first floor was kept incredibly clean by hard working staff. We loved the sun terrace and its beautiful views of quaint little whitewashed Ostuni. Some standard rooms have a balcony which would be very useful in the really hot months of summer. There is a great little shop selling wine, water and cheese about 100 yards down the street from the hotel. Just take care crossing the very busy road as the zebra crossing isn’t something Italian drivers take much notice of!

“Tour stay.”

We were part of a tour group. Rooms were allocated in advance as the tour company had forwarded our details. It was for this reason I think they put us on the ground floor although I am a very fit 71 year old. The room was never in any sun and frequently felt cold on our return. Perfectly adequate however. We never were aware of any road noise. The door to the room needs a good bang to shut securely. Lovely rainfall shower but small cubicle did not give the full benefit of it. Towels were great , well replenished and good quality of a decent size. Everything was kept very clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast and dinners. The quality of most of the food was excellent we thought. As a group we had a choice of 2 things each evening. We tried some lovely dishes. We had lunch in the terrace bar twice. This was lovely as well. The hotel is well placed to walk into Ostuni. That was a big bonus for us. There is no pool. But we knew that before we went. One would have been welcome after a long day touring in temperatures of 29/30. Staff pleasant and welcoming. I gave a score of 4 because the food was so good but the room was probably more indicative of a 3.

“Tinned fruit for dessert 😳”

Whilst this hotel was immaculate in every aspect it has no pool and not within walking distance of any beach. However my complaint is about the food. Whilst this hotel was immaculate in every aspect it has no pool and not within walking distance of any beach. However my complaint is about the food. Breakfast was good - self service , all the usual things and plenty of it but dinner was atrocious. Perhaps folk on a guided tour holiday are not worthy of the food served to other guests? Tinned meatballs, vegetables boiled within an inch of their lives and the crowning glory was tinned fruit for dessert! We weren’t expecting Michelin rated food but edible would have been acceptable. After three nights of the workhouse standard of food we ate in Ostuni for the remainder of the holiday as did most of our fellow travellers. Come on Travel Department you could can do better than this!!

“Lovely hotel, shame about the traffic noise at night”

We really liked the general feel of the hotel, the reception staff, the proximity to the town, the roof terrace, the jacuzzi bath and breakfast. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We even liked our room which was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, it fronted onto the busy road, which had it been confined to daytime traffic wouldn’t have been an issue, however HGV and revving motorbike traffic was constantly audible throughout the night. Thankfully, our eldest had brought earbuds, however the volume had to be turned up to 3/4 to drown out the outside noise which interfered with sleep. There was an issue with the window not closing properly which, in fairness to the hotel, was addressed promptly, however this had little bearing on the overnight traffic noise despite triple-glazing. The hotel was running at full capacity, so we couldn’t be moved to a quieter room. As other guests have commented, there was only one saggy pillow per guest with no spares in the wardrobe. While the jacuzzi bath worked well and was great, we couldn’t get the shower to work other than on the handset. While breakfast and lunch were both decent, we found dinner to be mixed. I have never stayed in a hotel where there is an additional charge to use the spa facilities. Given the nighttime traffic noise levels, the sound proofing needs to be greatly improved if guests’ stay isn’t to be adversely impacted. At the end of the day, sleep is an integral part of a hotel stay. Even though the room was sold at a discounted rate and reception kindly knocked off the drinks from our lunch bill, we still feel the rate at £240 per night was a little steep for 2 sleepless nights. Were it not for the noise, we probably wouldn’t have noticed the other niggles and given a much more favourable rating, say 4.5.
