Just returned from 3 weeks in Italy. Our favorite time was spent at the Agriturismo Casanova in Asciano, Italy. It was recommended by Rick Steves and it lived up to the hype. The farm is 26 miles south of Siena. We rented a car in Florence and drove down to the farm. The driving was easy in the countryside and had beautiful scenery. The farm is a 30 minute drive to all the vineyards and cities in that area of Tuscany. The farm has beautiful and comfortable accommodations at a very reasonable price. We had a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment. It has air condition and heat. The farm is safe and there is no need to lock doors or worry about your car. The exterior is beautifully manicured. The farm has picnic tables and benches to sit outside and enjoy the 360 degree panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside. The farm has a swimming pool that is available to guests. The farm raises Chianina cows for the past 5o years. There is a farm to table restaurant that is available for breakfast every morning and an evening meal if requested. The family that owns the farm are very attentive to guests and make each guest feel that they are part of the family. Vicki and Bart are wonderful hosts. Vicki was the best host to us and made us feel so welcome. She was always available to offer suggestions and answer all questions. She enjoys giving a history of the farm and how she became an Italian farmer's wife. (she is from Germany). She speaks very good English, Italian, German and French. She cooked all the meals and served the meals. The meals were some of the best we had in all of Italy. Vicki, comes around with plates of food for seconds. The dinner meal is 5 courses and served in a lovely environment. The last night we were the only guests and we ate in front of a roaring fire place. We were there for 5 nights and we wished it was longer. We will always remember our trip. Thanks Vicki and Bart!!

“Amazing Agriturismo in Southern Tuscany”

We had a wonderful week, a dream come true. Incredible panorama, the pool is a big plus to relax after the daily visits. It’s central to visit southern Toscany. Vicky is an incredible hostess. I would come year after year after year…

We booked a week at Agriturismo Casanova to explore the surrounding region of Tuscany based on the recommendation in a Rick Steve’s guidebook. The recommendation was accurate but we found Ag. Casanova offered so much more than that somewhat understated review. The rooms (we peaked at all but one) were recently remodeled, well equipped, spotless and comfortable. The view of the surrounding landscape was magical. There was a wonderfully decorated, authentic, common space where breakfast and dinners were served. Vicky was a spectacular host warmly greeting us at breakfast, helping with any questions, always full of suggestions, assisting with making arrangements for our activities. She made it feel more like we were staying with a good friend rather than at a typical B&B. The (optional) dinners were lovingly made with local products and were a real treat. We enjoyed being on a working farm that raised a herd of Chianina cows. Learning about their heritage we came to appreciate Bartolo’s and Vicky’s hard work and dedication towards preserving traditional methods and foods, many of which they served, sourced either from their or nearby farms. Along with Vicky’s constant friendly care, it was the experience of learning about the region’s people, places, and traditions that elevated staying at Ag. Casanova to one of the most fulfilling travel experiences we’ve ever had.

“A perfect Tuscany experience!”

Our extended family stayed at Casanova and had a wonderful experience. We had 4 small children who enjoyed the working farm environment. The hosts were wonderful and extremely kind and accommodating. Each family in our group enjoyed their own "apartment" setting within this wonderful historic farmhouse building. The views are stunning, the swimming pool was great, and the rooms all very comfortable and extremely clean. Asciano is a short walk or drive away and has everything you need. Oh, and by the way, Miss Vicky is an outstanding cook and her meals were the best we had anywhere in Italy. Casanova has our highest recommendation!
