First it is important to realize it is in Tuscany, which could not be in a more beautiful location. That being said, the receptionists and daily employees, Virginia and Margarite are the nicest, most helpful individuals you will meet. In addition to them, the employees in the dining area are incredible also. The organization of the meals and meal selections are perfect, not to mention the food was divine! The rooms vary so it is important to ask about a room that will accommodate you and your party. If it doesn't don't hesitate to ask if there is an alternative, Virginia and Maragarite know their way so feel free to ask any question. It was a delightful experience.

We stayed here for 7 nights/8 days as arranged through part of a small group tour we signed on for with Tuscany Untouched Ltd (see separate review). La Ferriera is a quaint residence in the middle of Tuscany and my husband and I found our accommodations in Apartment #6 adequate. It was spacious and clean. I would suggest better lighting throughout (it was very dim), but we managed with what we had. Our room was cleaned, and towels changed once during our week-long stay. We could opt to have that done more frequently (additional cost). There are laundry services on premises (fee), which suited our needs when there. The grounds were nice, and it is a short walk into the village of Loro Ciuffenna, which is lovely and has some good restaurants. The staff at the residence and restaurant were all very polite and helpful. As part of our tour package, we were served breakfast and dinner daily. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed it daily. We unfortunately were disappointed with dinner and opted to dine out 3 of the 7 nights there, although included in the cost of our tour. We found the dinners disappointing and not what we were expecting as representative of typical Tuscan cuisine, which we found everywhere else we chose to dine, without issue. Food elsewhere was fantastic! Generally, the primi piati offered nightly (pasta) were ok, but the secondi were repetitive (mainly pork) and not very varied, creative, or well flavored. It was generally very bland. The food was not served very hot/warm in temperature. One night, pork chops were offered and what was served were two spareribs with barely any meat on them, which was such a disappointment. My husband is a vegetarian (which was noted well in advance, and reminded upon arrival) and vegetables and salads were very scarce to him. Insalata caprese served with no basil, che fa-?? Beans! He finally asked one morning if they could prepare him a dish that evening for dinner with beans and he was served white beans (from a can-?) in a bowl with some olive oil drizzled around it and that’s it. Zero creativity. Desserts were unremarkable. We did alert our tour operator (Tuscany Untouched Ltd) after eating out several nights. He was very responsive, apologetic and asked us to dine our final night there to give everyone the opportunity to make things right. He was going to inquire on things and fix it. We reluctantly did so and regretted such decision. It just was not what we were expecting and what we paid for as part of our experience/tour. He even went so far as to reimburse us for the meals we ate out for three nights, which was very honorable, in our opinion. He tried to resolve the issues and satisfy his customers. I’m not sure what exactly the issue is at La Ferriera, as the staff seemed to all be trying and hard at work, but it wasn’t what we had hoped for. I hope they can work it out. Overall, I would recommend others to stay at this residence, but decide carefully about dining here and if that’s the right choice for you or not. In reading other reviews, other visitors had issues with their food, the temperature in their rooms, hot water for showering, etc, but we were ok. I wish them all the very best of luck. Times are tough these days.
