We stayed here for a week, as our friends were getting married. The hotel was nice and the staff were very friendly. The bus stop to Malcesine was under a 5min walk and only €2. Negatives: The bathroom was very cramped and there was a leak from somewhere. Positives: Lovely owners, AMAZING view, conveniently placed, great price compared to other hotels near by. We even received a parting gift when we left :)

“Last minute holiday”

Hotel Rosa, is located directly on the edge of Lake Garda on the outskirts of Malcesine, the local town of the area. The hotel is in a bay with superb views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The hotel is a family run affair, with friendly and welcoming staff. Food is adequate and is aimed at the mainly German clientele of which they were the majority. According to the TUI rep, this was the first time the company had used this hotel, hopefully therefore, the food will improve in the future. The room we had was to the rear of the hotel with no balcony or view. Given that this was a last minute deal, we could have no complaints, but had we paid full price we might have thought otherwise as it was also a little shabby, the bathroom was extremely small, but everything did work well. There is a lovely outdoor pool with plenty of sun beds which are free to use, however, you do need to be up early, for obvious reasons. There is a tourist bus that stops directly outside the hotel and costs €1.40 for any distance within area in which it operates. This bus goes to the main town of Malcesine, which is full of history and character, with its own castle and an olde world harbour which is bustling with bars, restaurants and boats. Also on the outskirts of the town is the cable car station which takes you up to Monte Baldo, with amazing views over the lake and surrounding mountains, don't miss it. Amazing. Arrive before 9:00am and save €8.00 per person. Overall I would say we had a great holiday, it is a place to which we would return and that is something that we very rarely do. That is a recommendation in itself. See for yourselves, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The hotel is right on the lakeside with amazing views from the rooms on the front. The bus stops outside to take you into Malcesine. We walked in around the lake. The road to the lake walk is a very steep hill which at night is not lit.The hotel is very dated but spotlessly clean. Our bedroom was fine with comfortable beds. Extra pillows were given as soon as we asked. The bathroom is very very small and dated but lovely and clean. What lets the hotel down is the food. Breakfast was continental style so no problem. You are given a slip at breakfast to select your choice of evening meal. The portions were very small. There was always one small vegetable portion and one potatoe. The potatoe could be boiled, roasted or mashed but there was only one. The staff were always pleasant and the young man behind the bar was lovely. We were the only English people in the hotel during our week long stay. This didnt bother us as we made some lovely German friends. We were unfortunate that the weather was not good on our weeks stay. It was cold and very wet. The hotel only has three tables with a few hard dining chairs in the bar area. With good weather this wouldnt matter as there are lots of tables on the beautiful terrace.
