Hotel Poppi was chosen and organised by Cosmos, as it was inclusive in our tour package and our last resting place for Venice for two nights. The building actually stands out with class and style, definitely gives an events vibe and lo and behold, they do cater for weddings / birthdays or business events. We felt so welcomed by friendly, caring and accommodating staff. Check-in was super-fast and efficient and we were given a key card to access our room. The rooms are spacious, elegantly presented and has all the necessary comforts you need… aircon, tele, WiFi, coffee / tea and kettle provided, shower gel provided in sachets and complimentary bottled water. The bathroom was of standard size, just enough space to put your toiletry bag on the basin with open shower having a glass panel to stop the splashes from escaping. The bed was nice and firm and the pillows were soft and comfortable which we had a decent sleep and awakened refreshed and that’s what really matters to me when on holidays the most. Even though this hotel is located on the main road, we didn’t hear any traffic noise. However, their buffet breakfast was below average, it was a poor effort and range. They did cover the basics though. And the same applied to our buffet dinner. I settled down with their roast pork in gravy and their salad veggies – the rest didn’t really look appetising. But it wasn’t just me, others in the group that we were with, didn’t like what was on offer, we just grazed to have something in our tummies. But you do have their restaurant as an option, perhaps it may be a better choice? When we returned to our rooms, after a day trip, the rooms were clean and refreshing. There’s one thing I want to share though, part of our hotel comforts, you also receive biscuits in packets and lollies – that is a lovely touch and when we returned from our day trip, they replenished the biscuits and lollies “thank you” for a welcoming treat. However, this is not the accommodation you would like to have, if you want to “casually” visit Venice especially during the night, it’s inconvenient but doable – it’s approximately a 25-minute drive. Concierge are more than happy to help, suggest and guide you how it’s best to get to Venice and can arrange taxi services (which will be costly) or guide you how to get to the bus stop, which is within walking distance. Luckily, we were on a tour and were chauffeured to Venice without a care, so when we returned, we had no interest to revisit Venice at night. We made use of Hotel Poppi’s outdoor setting to have snacks and drinks or choose to walk to their Aldi supermarket and/or stores nearby (approximately 10-minute walk) on the main road. On our last day, the concierge (24/7 front desk service) showed their professionalism and organised our group without a sweat, showing off their CCCs (Cool, Calm and Collective). There were early and late departures, with various time slots, in our group. Not all needed to go to the airport, like myself, we were heading to Milan by train. The super early departures didn’t miss out on breakfast, each received a breakfast box to take with them. I can confirm with you, that we did arrive at the right train station, plenty of time to spare and arrived in Milan without any problems. Overall, the accommodation was great, buffets (breakfast/dinner) were below average but the services staff provided was above and beyond – no requests were too difficult for them to handle.

The hotel is nearly 15 km from the main attractions of Venice. There are buses available from the hotel. The front office can arrange tickets to city and back on payment. Staff very helpful. There are some daily needs stores close by. But main shopping area is accessible by taxi or bus. Breakfast is good. The shower area is a big let down. One can hardly stand there. Too small. Rooms are decent.

After arriving in Venice to start our coach tour of Croatia, this hotel was our first stop and starting point for the tour. Very comfortable hotel, clean and spacious room and well maintained for an older style hotel consisting of a very nicely appointed bar area, dining room, with covered chairs and fresh table linen was elegant and service was very efficient. Self serve of breakfast and dinner meals with a good variety to choose from. Reception staff were very helpful and obviously used to catering for coach tours. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom clean and with amenities. My one criticism of this hotel is the location and distance from the airport. It is approximately 25 minutes drive at a cost of almost €60 inclusive of luggage and is in an area with just a small supermarket and a couple of shops nearby. It is ideal for coaches to pull in and I guess this is why it is chosen to accommodate coach parties.
