Title says it all really. My wife had booked at Torcolo hotel but they had a problem and transferred us here. Naturally we were a little concerned but it turned out great. This small hotel punches well above it's weight because you have to consider what you get for value. Our room was fine on first floor, reasonable size with large double bed and good bathroom. Friendly lady owner and good continental breakfast. Location perfect, right next to all attractions but on a quiet side street. Yes it's nice to stay in big fancy hotels and we've been fortunate enough to do that, but if you can find a smaller cost hotel like this one it's just as enjoyable, more personable and better value. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and thank you to Hotel Castello. We will definitely return if in Verona again. No hesitation to recommend unless you are a big hotel snob of course Edward and Christina McAlpine

“Simple, well-run and comparatively cheap”

Simple, well-run and comparatively cheap. It's a 2 star, but well maintained and comfortable for a short stay in Verona. Rooms aren't huge or ornate, but my single was quite adequate. The staff was available when needed.

My stay at Albergo Al Castello was a mixed experience that highlighted both the benefits and drawbacks of choosing budget accommodation in Verona's prime location. While the family-run hotel sits in an unbeatable spot near the Arena, several issues significantly impacted my stay. Despite the charming liberty building and recent renovations, the property feels constrained by its 2-star limitations in ways that affect the overall guest experience. LOCATION: Absolutely unbeatable and the hotel's saving grace. Located just 0.2 km from Piazza Brà and the famous Arena, with Juliet's House and Piazza delle Erbe within 0.5 miles. The quiet side street location provides peace while keeping you in the heart of everything. DINE + DRINK: Didnt dine or drink at the proeprty, so cannot comment. ROOM: We stayed in Room 19, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Barely Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Sweet view of the Castello and teh street; AIR-CON: Good functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Super tiny bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Ok quality toiletries, bring your own! FACILITIES: No Gym, Poo, or any other recreational facilities on site HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is not bad!

Albergo Al Castello is a nice hotel located in a rather calm street not far from the Verona Arena. Inside it's in general also peaceful, what makes me think that the building is soundproof. As a matter of fact, I heard no noise from my room during all the time I stayed at the hotel. The hotel is cozy. It's very well decorated and furnished. At the end of the corridor where the bedroom I was allocated is there is a wonderful sitting room decorated with much taste with attractive little pictures hanging on the walls in a peculiar way. The table in that sitting room is also very nice. In the bedroom the bed is very comfy, thanks to its mattress which is adequate for having a good rest. The only thing which wasn't so comfortable was the table, which was too small. Unfortunately, there is no safe in the room. The breakfast is not in line with the rest of the hotel elements. No much food is available for that meal. Besides, there was neither orange juice nor any other kind of juice. The first time I was given something which didn't look like juice but rather like syrup. As far as pastry is concerned, one is entitled only to one croissant, which the manageress distributes among the guests prior to asking each one of them whether or not he wants it. Sometimes one can feel like being in a barracks. Taking the price of the stay – which isn't cheap actually – into account, by the way, there could be a large free buffet at breakfast time. In addition to that scarcity of food, there is a TV set in the breakfast room which is on at the relevant time. The fact of bearing the silly advertisements, for instance, on that TV while one is having breakfast is a real nuisance. The sole staff at that hotel are the said manageress and a gentleman whom she calls “my brother”. They are kind and helpful, and even friendly. As one may gather from the foregoing, staying at that hotel has some advantages ans some disadvantages. In my opinion, however, the advantages are predominant. Therefore, the stay there might prove to be interesting.
