This is a very nice and clean hotel in the middle of Fukuoka and only seven minutes' walk to the train station. The staff is very welcoming and polite and there is a luggage storage facility available. The room is quite small but clean and has a lovely Japanese style toilet and a deep bathtub. The Wi-Fi is super strong and the mini fridge has a small freezer compartment which is good for keeping the ice-cream frozen. The breakfast is an improvement point. Yes, the coffee is black and strong, but the variety of the dishes on the buffet could have more variation from day to day. Overall, this hotel offers a good value and a nice sleep while visiting Fukuoka.

The hotel is located within walking distance of the railway station; however, I’d strongly suggest you get clear directions or use google maps as it is tucked away on the side streets. It is a quiet location with only a few nearby non-descript restaurants and one convenience store. The hotel itself is a bit tired and worn out but still in reasonable condition, this includes the lobby, lifts, corridors, hotel rooms and dining room. In order to maximise the amount of space in our room we booked a Deluxe Twin (Double) and glad that we did. The décor in the room was pretty bland and the window looked out onto the neighbouring building – so it was always dark as there was not much natural light. The bathroom was a step up from the bedroom floor level and in comparison, to the room itself was relatively small and compact. It also had a raised bathtub so I can understand for those people with mobility issues it would be difficult to navigate. The beds were very comfortable, and I was able to fit my 6ft frame in without overhanging the end. The free Wi-Fi was strong and reliable. It would have been nice of they provided some complimentary water. They do have a drink vending machine and a coin laundry on the 2nd floor (at least I think it was the 2nd floor). The washing and drying machines like the hotel were fairly worn out but did the job, though there wasn’t much ventilation in the laundry, and it smelt like it was on the smoking floor. Breakfast was served on the ground floor and like the rest of the hotel could have down with an upgrade. The décor in the dining area was like a private library, complete with chandeliers – thought the tables and chairs could do with replacing. The food was relatively basic with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes but there was no change to the variety in the dishes served over the duration of our stay. At the end of the meal, you returned your dirty dishes to the servery however there was nobody wiping down the tables between customers. The staff at the front desk were helpful, even if they did initially charge me an extra tax, which given I had paid for the room upfront was annoying. Although once they recognised their mistake, they called me up and arranged a refund (which took another 20mins). They do provide guests with free ice-cream at the lobby between 3:00 and 7:00pm but no donuts (as advertised on their website), where there is also a coffee machine and water dispenser (if you are happy to use the small paper cups). If I was coming back to Hakata I would definitely look at alternative options, as it was convenient for an overnight stay but if you are staying longer, like we were, I’m sure there must be better options.

From the outset the reception is impressive when booking in, but from leaving the lift the hotel and room looked tired! Small room, I have to agree with previous reviewers why put so much furniture in the room? The bathroom has also limited height! OK for one night stay as long as you take an overnight bag with you, as if there are two suitcases which we had then the room is full and we were unable to move freely around.

Stayed one night on our last night in Japan. We stayed in similar standard accommodation over two weeks and this was the worst and most expensive (probably due to GW long weekend). The room was small and old. The bathroom ceiling was very low so anyone who's 6 feet tall might bang their head on the ceiling. The location is on the quiet side, there are a few restaurants around and convenient stores. We didn't have high expectation for this accommodation but what I don't understand is why do Japanese hotels put so many furnitures in a small room!?
