Stayed one night and found this hotel to be a comfortable stay as are most Toyoko Inn's. As previously noted there are few eating options close to the hotel so the train station is your best bet. The reviewer on 2014 gave a good explanation on how to get to the hotel. Do not take the street that the hotel is on as the sidewalk area is rough and dangerous. All and all a good nights stay.

“Worth the price, extremely pursued cost reduction”

I stayed here for a week. It is located near station and Kairakuen, it's about 400mm from exit of station and about 800m from kairakuen. As most of Japanese business hotels are, the room of this hotel was also small even having difficulty to open suit case, However there was clean, price was cheaper, staffs were very kind and helpful. Washing machines work with some coins are equipped and these were nice to reduce the cost of staying expense. Wifi was also available at free of charge. In my plan breakfast was included but I didn't take it except for first day since it was cheap and not so delicious, I would rather have bought something outside. If I were in vacation, I would not have take here but it was nice for business trip, only for sleeping at nights.

We recently stayed at the Toyoko Inn Mito for 5 nights and, like all Toyoko Inn hotels it was clean, safe and friendly. Whilst little English was spoken, check-in was fast and efficient as was our check-out. The rooms were standard Toyoko Inn, with all facilities. Breakfast was Japanese and most enjoyable. The main downside is the location, being on the south side of the railway station (most action is on the north side) and about 10 minutes walk, with some of the footpaths rough and 'very un-Japanese'. The best (and easiest) walk to the the hotel is, upon leaving the south exit of the railway station, catch the elevator or lift down to the street level main road, cross that road, turn left and walk about 150 - 200 meters, turn right and walk down that road to the end and then turn left. The hotel is about 50 meters. If looking for somewhere to eat near the hotel, go left from the front of the hotel, cross the river and the first main road you come to, go left or right for some eateries. Other eateries are in the railway station or on the north side. Whilst I have marked the hotel 'very good', it is not quite, but it is better than average.

The location of this hotel is very good; very close the railway station. From the South Exit of the Mito station, it takes about 5 minutes walking to the hotel. So, if you do not have heavy luggage, there is no need for a taxi. The staff in the hotel is very friendly, but their English is not so good. My room was very small but OK and it was possible to open the window, Everything was very clean and in good order. The breakfast is mainly Japanese; almost no bread or other Western food or drinks. So, eating every morning rice and sea-weed is not really ideal. On TV, it was only possible to watch Japanese movies and even wen buying "Video on demand", everything was in Japanese. In the evening, it is good to go the Mito station, as there are many restaurants and good shops (among which a giant electro-shop).
