Our group of 12 arrived on the evening of our fourth day in Japan, the perfect time to enjoy all that a Japanese onsen can provide. This is a fairly small resort, with 64 traditional japanese tatami guest rooms and 4 western style rooms. It is located in Ishikawa, a semi-rural area near Kanazawa, and about 30 min. by car from Komitsu airport. It is a family run hotel where only Japanese is spoken, but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The tatami guest rooms were quite spacious, with adequate storage for our luggage, and a small additional room overlooking the pools and gardens which had a pair of western arm chairs for those who don't care to spend their time on the floor at the large, low central table in the main room. We also had a balcony. The toilet and sink areas were immaculate and furnished with the usual amenities. The ensuite bath here is Japanese style and located in a separate room, for use by those guests who choose not to use the public baths. This was our first experience at an onsen, but enjoyed the expeience very much. There are separate changing and bathing areas and inside hot baths for men and women- the water was VERY warm- I couldn't stay in it for more than 10 min. In order to use the mixed outdoor baths, bathing suits are provided. Outside there are several pools of varying temperatures from hot to warm to cool. It was raining on the evening we arrived, and the experience of sitting in a warm bath with a cool rain falling was very enjoyable. I can't see how it would be humanly possible to go to one of these baths and NOT totally relax. Yukata and sandals are provided and one is expected to wear them for the duration of your visit. Our multi course traditional Japanese dinner was provided in one of the dining rooms- there are several, but ours had western style tables and chairs and overlooked a pretty garden which is lit at night. The food was beautifully prepared and presented and was as delicious as it looked. Futons are laid out in the tatami rooms while the guests dine. Westerners need not fear and uncomfortable night- we found them extremely comfortable. Our traditional Japanese breakfast was provided in the same dining room as the evening before. The only disappointment we encountered was early the next morning when we went to the baths- only the inside baths were open- the outside baths were closed until later in the day. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone wanting a ryokan/onsen experience, providing they can handle the fact that no English is spoken by any of the staff.

I was on a group tour and stayed at this hotel for a night. There is a convenience store and drugstore about 5 mins walk. This is a typical Japanese style ryokan catering mostly to domestic tourists. There is only one very small and tiny lift in the wing I stayed so it can take some time waiting for the lift. The rooms were tatami style and relatively spacious. There is no wifi in rooms so you have to go to the lobby. Wifi speeds can be improved. The indoor hot spring was rather small but they also have a large outdoor hot spring section which is for both men and women. This would be great for families. The hotel also provides robes to wear in the outdoor hot springs so there is no need to worry about being in the nude with the opposite sex. The Japanese staff serving us were elderly but very polite and courteous although they only spoke Japanese so communication can be a problem.
