You simply cannot go wrong coming to this lovely city and staying at the Hotel Soki. It’s well-located for walking, exploring, and using the bus system, and is well-staffed, modern, and spacious. It’s literally a beehive of tourist activity, but it still managed to feel calming and comforting when we returned there after intensive bouts of sightseeing. Our room was kept immaculately clean. The onsens could have been hotter, but that is my only criticism. And when we checked out without removing our stuff from the room safe, their communications to us were prompt, courteous and unfailingly professional. In this instance they were able to safely mail our belongings to us at our next hotel instead of us having to take the train back to pick them up ourselves. It was a memorable example of the legendary Japanese honesty and efficiency at work, and we will always be grateful to the caring cleaning and office staff of the Hotel Soki!

The proximity to both Omicho Market & Higashi Chaya District was the primary reason we booked with Soki Kanazawa, we then later discovered that Kanazawa Castle Park was also within walking distance! Aside from the location of this hotel, which is simply unbeatable -- the public bath provided a much needed break from the stresses of travel, complete with a helpful guide in English provided to guests, this came in extremely useful as first time users of this service. Tattoo coverings were able to be purchased at the front desk, and moisturisers and skincare creams are provided in the changing rooms to treat yourselves after a soak. Our room was spacious and clean, with an excellent shower and comfortable bedding. We only made use of the restaurant for breakfast on our last morning at the hotel, and we had a traditional Japanese breakfast which was excellent, especially for those who love fish. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel if your trip takes you to Kanazawa, it's also near enough to the Station that with a suitcase each you can easily walk down in 15/20 minutes or so, and experience what the city has to offer.

Tucked away in the heart of one of Japan’s most culturally rich cities, SOKI Kanazawa offers more than just a place to sleep—it provides a deeply immersive, serene retreat that perfectly balances tradition with thoughtful modern hospitality. My recent stay here was a highlight of my trip, and it’s a place I would recommend without hesitation as it is also affordable yet chic! It’s only a quick and easy 5–10 minute taxi/ bus ride away. And right across the street lies the legendary Omicho Market, often called “Kanazawa’s Kitchen.” Waking up each morning with the vibrant market at your doorstep is a genuine privilege. The promise of the freshest seafood, local produce, and an electric atmosphere is immediate, setting the tone for a day of authentic discovery. Stepping into SOKI, you are immediately struck by its distinctive and atmospheric design. The hotel draws profound inspiration from the traditional nagaya (longhouse) townhouses of the Showa era. The façade and interiors masterfully play with light, shadow, and clean, geometric lines. There’s a profound, understated elegance to it—a distinctly Eastern beauty that feels calm, intentional, and deeply connected to local history. The use of natural materials, subdued lighting, and quiet corridors creates a hushed, sanctuary-like vibe from the moment you enter. SOKI embodies a “small but beautiful” philosophy. One of its greatest assets is the communal onsen (hot spring bath) on the ground level. After a long day of walking through Kenrokuen Garden or the historic Higashi Chaya district, sinking into the restorative, mineral-rich waters was pure bliss. The post-bath ritual here is a delightful touch: a complimentary fresh milk from local or a refreshing rice drink from a small vending machine corner. This classic Japanese tradition of replenishing energy after a soak is executed perfectly and adds a lovely, authentic layer to the experience. The room is about 20sqm with minimalist décor, even good for a couple or even a small family, the layout is more than sufficient. Clever storage solutions, compact yet functional bathrooms etc. However, a note for fellow travelers: pricing fluctuates weekend vs weekdays. In short, SOKI Kanazawa is a gem. It’s a hotel that understands its roots, offering a peaceful, design-forward base that connects you intimately with the city’s rhythm—from the morning buzz of Omicho Market to the quiet reflection of its own onsen. It’s an ideal choice for discerning travelers seeking atmosphere, location, and a taste of Japanese tradition. I left feeling rested, inspired, and already planning my next visit—this time, definitely on a weekday.

This is a good hotel and in a good location. It’s walking distance from the train terminal and to many of the major tourist sites . The hotel is quite Zen in style but maybe slightly basic. This is a good hotel and in a good location. It’s walking distance from the train terminal and to many of the major tourist sites . The hotel is quite Zen in style but maybe slightly basic. Staff were very nice and many spoke some English. The check-in and checkout process is fully automated through a card machine which even dispenses your room keys to you. I would caution you to be careful in your selection of room. We stayed in two different rooms. The first one was the standard king room and it is far too small for 2 if you are travelling with luggage as there’s nowhere to store anything and there are no closets in the room. The second room we had had two beds in it (superior wide twin) and it was a very good size but again no closet space to store clothes. Just be cautious if you are travelling with luggage that there really is nowhere to store it or your things. The onsen is of normal standard. I did not have the opportunity to eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on the food
