“5 star, yet cheap!”
Sumiyoshiya is phenomenal. The proprietors are special -- so welcoming and attentive and catering to our every need. “Lovely stay”
It’s not fancy, but has everything you could need in a hotel, is in a great location, and is run by lovely people. For the price it’s an excellent choice. If you haven’t experienced a more traditional ryokan this would be a good way to try one.

Wow---where to start about a wonderful Japanese traditional inn, one that has been in the family for 300+ years. We 3 ladies had 2 rooms, plus bath, for 3 nights. Our stay here was excellent, much recommended. Best price / quality ratio we had in Japan by a long shot. We had a very spacious room (though with the to-be-expected hard mattresses).
