I read reviews is an eerie creepy hotel and laugh. When I reach here, it does looks like a creepy hotel as it is a big bulgy hotel emerge out of nowhere :) We reached ~ 12:30pm, place was empty and very quiet. The reception lady knows the room is empty but told us in a deadpan voice that check in time is 3pm. So...we just have to wait.... My partner got a shock by her attitude and told her we'll just wait at the reception. He sat close to the reception since there was no one around. I decided to speak to a nicer guy beside her to ask for some advice on direction and after a while I asked him nicely why wouldn't they let us go to our room since is ready? He said give him 10 more minutes. So it works! Upon checked in, room is old and dated but bathroom is very spacious. Nice double bed, they have a nice onsen but gym and swimming pool needs to pay. Room has cups but no teaspoons. Is interesting they have so many types of shower gel, conditioner and shampoo to wash till you drop but no moisturizer or body lotion. I was still pretty sick after 9 days and need to see a doctor again, I used google translate to get the reception to help. Most of the "younger men" at reception are quite hopeless to process. But thank god this trainee young lady name OGAWAUCHI who understands English and go to the extra mile to help me. I told reception to call a taxi for me to get to see the doctor whom I've googled 5min. away at 3pm. When I returned from hike, OGAWAUCHI san told me the doctor I googled doesn't understand English and she has booked me into another clinic 10min. drive away and arrange a taxi close to the booking time. Amazing! I didn't expect such proactive attitude from Japanese, is often I've to convey to tell them what to do and then they execute perfectly. But this trainee is Hotel Kycera best candidate to run the office! Hotel is ~ 1.8km to Aeon center for supermarket. There is a cheap and quick eat sushi belt ~ 300m walk. Came here for hiking but taxi takes us 45min. ~ 12,000 Yen each way to the start of hike. In future will rent a car in each town when we arrive for hiking next day. As Japan needs International driving licence, so be prepared. I wouldn't choose to be back here again. Will head straight from Kagoshima to Yakushima in future.

I have choose this Hotel as it is very close to kagoshima airport; with just about 12 mins drive time. The hotel is located in the centre of Kirishima city, where you can easily find lot of restaurants to fill up your stomach or shops for killing time. Although the hotel has years of history, the facilities are well maintained. Especially the onsen is really kept in very good condition. I really appreciate the staff helping to clean the onsen. Every morning, when I use the onsen, I found it almost dry up, all the mirrors and floor have only a few water drop. That was really amazing. You can imagine there were hundred of users everyday, but they can still clean it up in high standard in just a few hours. I would recommend if anyone like to book the hotel, please try to find room in the main building, where you can enjoy the onsen just right in the basement, instead of walking from the Annex which will take about 5 min.

“Great hotel. Very safe during the earthquake.”

We stayed here 2 days for a business trip. The hotel is very nice. The standard rooms are small, about 200 square feet, but very clean. The bed is Japanese style on the harder side. The breakfast buffet was very good, with many western and Japanese choices and freshly cooked omelettes. The breakfast restaurant is in a side building, a little hard to find the first time, but then OK. We did not use the gym or hot springs, but they are supposed to be very nice as well. The hotel felt very safe during the 6.2 earthquake that happened at night ~ 50 miles away. It seemed to absorb the shock well, swayed for a little bit, and then settle down. There were two strong quakes in a row and no issues. In the morning we took a look at the massive columns that hold everything up and it made sense, it is really well built.
