An incredible experience and a highlight of our Japan trip. Upon arrival, our luggage was transferred to our room and we were offered drinks and took some time to enjoy the beautiful lobby. We spent the first night in the Sora room and the second in the Tsuki room. Both rooms were beautiful but the Tsuki (ground floor with two hot spring baths) was outstanding- highly recommend booking this room. We also recommend the Japanese style rooms - the beds were very comfy and there is something SO cozy about sleeping on the floor after a nice hot springs bath!! Our attendant, Saki, was absolutely lovely and brought us our meals each morning and evening in our room. Dinner was truly an experience - 7-8 courses of delicious and traditional Japanese food- as a westerner, some items were a little foreign to us but we appreciated the new experience and all of the food was very tasty. If you are not very accustomed to Japanese food, I recommend getting the Western breakfast, as this was great as well. We also really enjoyed the Sake selection available at dinner and the beautiful bar for a nightcap. The spa is a MUST - my husband and I received the best massages of our life here- it was an out of body experience! The hot springs in the spa are also beautiful and you are able to use them following your treatment. Definitely worth visiting the public baths as well. Note that tattoos are generally a no go - I have a very small tattoo that I could cover before entering the baths (bring your own cover). Finally, the staff truly made the experience exceptional - they decorated the lobby for our honeymoon and surprised us with gifts after dinner. It was the cutest experience ever and meant so much to us. Highly recommend visiting!

“Wow! What a Phenomenal Place!”

We LOVED this hotel. It was absolute paradise. Unfortunately, we only spent 1 night in this hotel after finishing the free pass travel circuit. We were originally going to check out very early to hear to Kyoto, but after we saw the room we decided to take a later train to really enjoy the facilities! The "room" feels like a small house done in traditional style. We were on the ground floor, so we had our own bath on the back patio. It is so quiet and peaceful that we felt as though we were the only people in the entire hotel, only seeing one other person in the morning. The Kaiseki dinner was a highlight of the entire trip. The person assigned to our room spoke English well, which helped us further enjoy the experience. The best thing was after dinner they said they had a surprise for my daughter to celebrate her first trip to Japan. They brought us to the lobby where they removed all the furniture, put down Xmas lights in heart patterns and had a Taylor Swift dance party. We were blown away! Yes, I had seen this in other reviews, and maybe they just cycle guests through so each feels as though it was set up for them, but it felt very special and will be a lasting memory to my daughter. What a phenomenal stay! Truly a highlight of our trip to Japan! The only consideration is that it is over 20 minutes or so from Odawara station. There is a bus line, but we asked the Ginyu to call us a taxi. It wound up costing maybe $40-$50 but got us to the station without issue! I would have also liked to check out the public baths and maybe the bar at night but we were too focused on enjoying our own bath, and too exhausted after dinner!

Wow. I normally never write reviews, but this hotel exceeded every single expectation. From start to finish, the service was amazing. We were constantly attended to and the staff was so kind and helpful. The multi course breakfast and dinner, served in our room, was incredible. We mentioned to the staff during dinner on our first night that we were in Japan for our honeymoon, and after dinner, they surprised us with a “happy honeymoon” celebration and gift. We stayed in the Japanese Style room with a private hot spring inside and outside the room. It was extremely clean, well maintained and comfortable. We enjoyed every aspect of the experience. From the service to the beauty of the surrounding area, we were impressed and happy with everything during our stay.

I loved my stay of 1 night at Hakone Ginyu. Everything was perfect but if you are a foreigner you might not get the same welcome locals get. At least that's what I felt. The hospitality was lacking but the dinner service made up for the mid check-in process. 10/10 would visit again but this time I'll go with lower expectations.
