I booked a king bed room as a Titanium member. On check in I had a room with two beds pushed together to make a bigger bed. It wasn’t clear if this was an upgrade or not and the reservation was not visible online so I can’t make a clear call on it. The room itself was nice and spacious, up to standard for western hotel rooms and roomy by Japanese standards. There was a nice view of nature outside and I really enjoyed it. The hotel itself is located next to the Kyoto International Conference Center which is in the far northeastern side of Kyoto and is next to Kokusaikaikan Station which is the northern terminal of the subway Karasuma Line. There is a special hallway and exit with escalators from the train station that goes by the convention center however this exit closes late at night. While there isn’t much else in the area, the hotel surroundings feature lush greenery and I thought it was a really beautiful getaway. The building is in the shape of a circle with another garden in the center. I had access to the club lounge for evening cocktails and for breakfast. Evening cocktail service had some satisfying drinks and light snacks. The breakfast service wasn’t the most extensive but I found it pretty comparable to other club lounges of this caliber of hotel. I think a lot of people may be nervous about how remote this hotel is. While I agree that this hotel is quite far from downtown, it is also very relaxing, beautiful, and there is fairly quick access to the subway if you don’t mind the commute. On top of all this, I think that the price I paid versus the quality of room I received was really good and frankly one of the best values I can think of in Kyoto. If you don’t mind the commute, I think this hotel can be a great choice. If you have business at the conference center then there really is no better option.
