“Enjoyed Traditional Japanese style stay”

After researching many properties we zero down this property. But it was a good decision. This property has both types of rooms i.e. traditional Japanese style rooms & normal rooms with beds. After researching many properties we zero down this property. But it was a good decision. This property has both types of rooms i.e. traditional Japanese style rooms & normal rooms with beds. We choose ryokan style rooms. Happy and enjoyed staying in this property. We traveled as a family. Food...can't give comment on this as we had breakfast only one day at the property rest all days, all foods we had outside. Front desk...they were available from 0700 hrs in the morning. Always ready to help and resolve your queries to the best of their abilities with big smile. Location...little far from Kyoto Station but near to Nishiki Market. You can reach the market area by walking within 7-10 minutes. Area is also quite. Lawson and seven eleven store is available but Lawson is very near to the property. Rooms...our ryokan style room was in 1st floor. All amenities were available. Moreover if you need any other assistance,  just ask, they are ready to help. To sum up, I can say it's a value for money property if you want to experience traditional Japanese style rooms. Thanks to all the staff members. "Arigato Gozaimashita".

“Not Really Ryokan Quality”

I booked here predominantly due to price as all hotels around Kyoto were quite expensive and I figured that since this was a ryokan it would be worthwhile. I booked here predominantly due to price as all hotels around Kyoto were quite expensive and I figured that since this was a ryokan it would be worthwhile. The location is fairly central with regards to Kyoto but it's not extremely convenient to a whole lot. It's a fair distance to most attractions and even the ones that are relatively close such as the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine takes about half an hour with a transfer by metro. The closest metro station is about a 10 minute walk and there's not a whole lot to eat and do in the area. The room we got was fairly small from my peception of a ryokan. There was a small wooden stool and table but it didn't really seem like the setup I expected. The room was lagging behind in maintenance and cleanliness: the screen door had a number of stains on it alongside as a section of the cloth covering the base of the walls. The wood that was used was chipped in a number of spots, especially on the edges of alcoves and storage areas. The futon was pretty thin for my liking although the pillows were fine. The door to the room also had an issue where you had to manually lock it instead of it doing so automatically. The bathroom wasn't extremely small but it was pretty narrow. The vanity area was small and the toilet was positioned to where you were mere inches from the wall. The internet also had a significant problem with speed from my experience with it. Breakfast needs to be ordered the previous day before 22:00 and consisted of a Japanese option, American option, Continental option, and Granola option. I thought the prices were reasonable and I got the Japanese options both times and thought it was reasonably well done. Service was a bit of a hit or miss, it wasn't necessarily that it was bad it was just inconsistent especially for the type of product that wished to be presented. It seemed a bit cold at times though it definitely varied by staff member. I can't fault the place significantly since the hotel is significantly cheaper than pretty much most anything in the area (including competing ryokans) but the lack of upkeep and inconsistent service as well as elements of the experience make this far from the most authentic ryokan experience possible.
