This Ryokan has no other facilities other than the suite with a bedroom and a sitting room. The bathroom is divided into two with an appealing cedar bath tub in one and the sink and toilet in the other. There is just a Reception . The garden for our room was individual . Especially because of Momiji the Japanese garden view was typical and magical . The suite had a lot of charm . The day Receptionist can converse better in English and is well informed . The other staff are friendly and helpful albeit with rudimentary or no English. There is no food or drink arrangement . A Japanese vegetarian breakfast can be pre ordered and is $333 per day for two. It is very nicely laid out , soya based and different every day . The room cost was $1400 which was too much , the charm and atmosphere notwithstanding . There were 4 rooms in all .

“Peaceful and friendly”

We stayed as a family of 3 in our first ryokan experience. The ryokan is beautiful and the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. Our room was spacious and well appointed. My wife and daughter enjoyed the futons although my back didn’t. The staff drew us a private bath one night with some delicious sake beforehand. Breakfast is all local vegetarian options and it is delicious although can be a bit challenging compared to what westerners are used to for breakfast. The free taxi back to the station was very nice also. The location is good for some of the temples and very peaceful but a bit out of the action and away from the restaurant scene so be prepared to do some walking or take an Uber. We enjoyed our stay very much - other than my back.

Beautiful and authentic ryokan in a very nice part of Kyoto. We had an amazingly beautiful room with direct access to the garden and a great view. Please note that not all the rooms are equally nice, however none of the rooms in this ryokan are in any way bad. There are only 4 rooms in total. We never saw any of the other guests and it did not feel crowded at all. This ryokan is perfect for visitors to Japan who wish to experience traditional Japanese culture, one of the best places in which we stayed during our 2-week holiday. It is not cheap, however it was totally worth every penny. The sorrounding streets are nice and quite. The staff are amazingly kind and very service-minded.

“So crowded”

Such lovely people but so crowded. Very interesting and safe but best to get out of the big cities if you can. Because of the crowds I won’t be returning but it certainly was an experience to remember. Very friendly and caring people always willing to help.
