Great stay! Clean, beautiful facilities. I’m Japanese and have experienced an onsen before, but their instructions were super helpful for my first timer friends. Dinner and breakfast were great. The staff was very accommodating the entire time. We got there prior to check-in time, and they not only held our luggage, but also brought it all to our room for us when it was ready. Tattoo friendly if you stay the night! Highly recommend!

“The ultimate Kyoto experience”

I stayed at this ryokan style hotel in Kyoto because it was awarded Tripadvisor's best of the best. It lived up to its reputation. The service was excellent and the attention to detail was outstanding. Kaiseki meal was amazing and made my stay even nicer.

Selected this ryokan for its reviews and very competitive price. It definitely defied my expectations. * Location Though it's relatively close on map to Kyoto station, it's probably best to get there by taxi if you have many bags as it's well embedded in its labyrinthine neighborhood - which adds to the "authenticity" and the peaceful quiet. It is however just 8-9 minutes' walk away from Tambaguchi station from which it's a direct shot to Kyoto's north-east drags like Arashiyama (Tenryu-ji, monkey park, bamboo forest, etc). Post office is also very close. * Staff Nothing less than exceptional. Not only very accommodating at all hours of the day, but also very mindful, at all times, of things like food allergies without being told twice. * Room We got a nicely set tatami room for three folks and had enough space for all our suitcases. The food that came with the deal was breakfast and dinner, all kaiseki-style, and was fantastic. I mentioned the allergies - the staff prepared sesame-, peanut-, bean-, nut-free food and looked and tasted amazing. Nice bathroom and tub. Very quiet and warm. Loungewear that can be used within the whole ryokan are provided. * Facilities The bath facility was also very good. There are two sets of facilities with an enclosed area with 2-3 pools (cold, hot, super hot) and an outdoor area with one hot pool - one set per gender, and they switch genders every day. The facility is open to paying customers that are not the ryokan's customers so it may happen to be crowded at times, but generally we had no issues at all. Nice lounge with snacks on the first floor. Bottom line, I would definitely come back if given the chance. The price vs the amazeness of what you get is a complete steal in my honest opinion.

Clean. Friendly staff. Restaurant with good food. They have laundry facilities and offer massages. It's also very close to the train station, although Google's directions walk you down an industrial road to get there. That was a little strange when we arrived, because you think that it wouldn't be in an industrial area, but it gets residential after a block or two. We loved it. The futon was comfortable, and we appreciated a taste of more traditional Japanese living. Recommend.
