Osaka is a mega-city just after Tokyo located at the Kansai region of Japan. To say the least, a mega-city is anything but small, simple and easy. Choosing the perfect place to stay requires diligent attention. Since we wanted to be near Shin Osaka JR station after coming from Fukuoka, we are choosing between Namba or Shinshaibashi, we ended up the latter because its also our first time here. And glad we did, the hotel is just outside Exit 7 of the station and just outside Shinshaibashi Opa mall. It is our first time to stay in this area - Nishi Shinsaibashi and it was the opposite side of the famous Dotonbori Canal. If the canal is the main tourist attraction of Osaka, Nishi Shinsaibashi is a long boulevard dotted with high end shops as well as shopping malls mostly luxury items. The hotel is located 2 mins walk outside Exit 7 heading East and right at Shinmachi, Nishi Ward. This side street is dotted with cafes, restaurants and stores except we only stayed 2 nights in Osaka so we didn’t get much time to wander around. But still it is one of the closest hotels we ever had in Japan just outside a main train station and we got a very affordable rate when we booked our rooms. We booked a Double room, non-smoking for 2 nights as mentioned with a great deal of less then 100 SGD per night without breakfast. Much to our surprise and joy it was a very spacious room at 15 sqm its bigger and spacier compared to other Japanese hotels in the area at that rate in the middle of the posh and trendy Nishi Shinshaibashi. Check-in is strict at 3 PM just like other hotels in Japan but the moment you got in - your room is absolutely clean and ready. Also similar to other hotels, the toiletries and amenities are located in the lobby for your own pleasure. They have 2 buildings and we were booked in the Annex just across the Main one at the 6F. Both buildings I would say the lobby is one of the biggest I’ve been similar to that of 5 star hotels. Just like most Japanese hotels, our room is equipped with Japanese style toilet with tub located to our right after entry. The room has dark brown carpet on its floor. I love the idea that they didn’t put a wardrobe in the hallway of our room which gives us lots of ample space and we could open both our luggages. There is a body mirror in front of the toilet and a Japanese wall hanger for our clothes and towels to hang. An ample size wall TV is right next to it beside the window with a blackout curtain. The TV selections were just local channels but we enjoyed their comedy shows and the WIFI is superbly fast. They also provide air purifier just like other hotels. In front of the TV is the Double bed which is very comfy, clean, soft and just the right texture. The pillows and blankets are very smooth, silky and refreshing. They not only provide 2 huge white pillows but also 2 square ones. Their bed also have a protective leather cushion on your headrest together with a mini placeholder on top where you could put your drinks and personal stuff - only in Japan which is pretty neat and impressive. It is also lighted which gives you a calm, warming effect. There are power outlets including USB ones on the left side on the bed facing the study table. Next to the comfy double bed is their long and wide study/coffee/side table with a cushioned office chair, mirror and lamps. Here the mini-fridge, water kettle. drinking mugs and hotel phone are placed. By default, based on experience most budget friendly Japanese hotels provide 2 complimentary bottled waters on your first night of stay only. This is our place to put our takeaway foods and drinks especially if we don’t have time to eat outside. It was indeed a cozy, heart warming and relaxing experience having our food in the abode and comfort of our hotel room. The lightning in the table/mini-bar area is also superb and just the right amount of brightness. They also provide Sleeping robes in Beige colours and Indoor slippers similar again to other Jap hotels. And finally, whenever I stay in Japan I made it to the point to use the tub every day and Hearton Hotel is no exception. Easy to use, good water pressure, perfect heating control, safe and just the right amount of size and space for an adult. I always love the shower gels and shampoos they provide which are very aromathic, herby and relaxing. We checked out a bit early because we have a train to catch to Tokyo and we decided to eat in the cafe in front of the Annex and we found out they support the customers of the hotel who have breakfast included so we can’t order ala carte yet - but definitely next time when we come back to Hearton Hotel Shinshaibashi, the perfect place to stay at the heart of Osaka!!! “Convenience everywhere!”

Check in was very smooth! We arrived late night and we were really exhausted. It was very good that the check in was seamless and quick so that we will be able to go to our room to get some rest! Check in was very smooth! We arrived late night and we were really exhausted. It was very good that the check in was seamless and quick so that we will be able to go to our room to get some rest! It is also located in a very strategic location whereby the train station is just a few minutes walk away! There's also a 24hrs mart beside the hotel which is god sent! I really love how the room has everything we ask for! I also like how the amenities are just right in front of the reception! We could just grab whatever we need from there and go back to our room! Amenities such as a comb, green tea, coffee and even onion soup!!! I'll definitely come back to stay here when I'm back in Osaka!

“Tiny room”

This hotel is in a great area to explore Osaka, just 2mins from the subway. The down side is it has what we believe to be typically Japanese size rooms and ours was tiny, we are travelling around for two weeks and two suitcases which we struggled to fit in. This hotel is in a great area to explore Osaka, just 2mins from the subway. The down side is it has what we believe to be typically Japanese size rooms and ours was tiny, we are travelling around for two weeks and two suitcases which we struggled to fit in. No storage area for clothes. The bed was a semi double - it’s a single bed (we are luckily not large but only just fit). The shower was good and shower gel ect was provided.

Possibly body odour, (not ours) first night we were changed to another, next day after being out all day arrived to a smelly room. Bathroom us sufficient but feels lije a prefab. The breakfast offered in the cafe beside and across from hotel is limited. Getting cereal was difficult. Told on first day test getting it was a treat. Next time had to really stand firm as nothing else was interesting for little one. Waitress with pink hair very rude.
