We were surprised with the size of the rooms that we booked. It's very small and tight, but that's to be expected with most of the hotels in Japan. The rooms are very clean, including the bathrooms. The hotel is near the train stations, and restaurants are all close by. A good 10-15 min walk to the big shopping stores. Just google to find them.

“What a gem in the middle of Dotonbori!”

We stayed here on the night of 4/27/2024. We had only one evening (actually 14 hours) in Osaka before heading out to Kyoto the next morning. After spending countless evenings watching videos on YouTube about things to do and places to stay, we decided that all we wanted to do after we arrived that evening was to explore the food scenes in Dotonbori. We chose the IAM Hotel because it was in Dotonbori. Though it had decent reviews and looked good in videos, we were not sure what to expect. We did not arrive at the hotel until after 8pm on a Saturday night. What a gem this hotel turned out to be! The front desk was on the second floor in what looked like a small but modern apartment building in the middle of Manhattan. The staff were friendly and professional, and spoke enough English for us to communicate. We had room #801, a corner Japanese-style Superior Family Room that we booked through Agoda. The room was beautiful and very spacious. To the right of the entrance hall was a good-sized bathroom with bench shower, a soaking tub, and a separate vanity with sink. To the left was a separate water closet with a bidet. Opening the door straight ahead revealed our large Japanese-style bedroom. On the left side was a sitting area with tatami, fridge, safe, and a deep closet. On the right was a raised wooden platform with two mattresses. They were comfortable. Even though the hotel was in the center of Osaka’s nightlife, the room was very quiet. Our reservation through Agoda included breakfast served in the lounge. We chose the Japanese breakfast and enjoyed our full course meal with miso soup, appetizers, fish and steamed rice. The staff who served us were friendly. The hotel is located on a covered walk street. Our car had to drop us off and pick us up on the main street, and we walked about 1/2 block. It was an easy walk. This is not a 5-star full service luxury hotel; but it is well managed, clean and comfortable. The only reasons we did not give 5 stars were (1) the staff, though friendly and professional, did not provide exceptional services that were above and beyond their call of duty, and (2) the hotel does not provide many amenities. But the room is large and well equipped, and the amenities they do offer are nice and attractive. Most importantly, we loved the location that allowed us to explore the Dotonbori neighborhood with ease. We highly recommend it.
