“Hana”
Hana is a must. I have done this one before and spent the night, way to go. This time I did a one dayer, so if you like to drive, go for it. “This is a beautiful and traditional Japanese Hotel.”
The hotel is surrounded by the mountains. The trees in the mountains will change colors as the season changes. “Well trained staff but it doesn't make me give this place 4 stars.”
The place is tired & worn out. Thumb up for the 3 baths (outside and inside hot spring), thumb down for the food. Very disappointed by Heike's okaribayaki that looks great on photos but didn't taste good. I wonder if that was because we were part of a tour group. The less variety but the better… more

“Chill out retreat”
We came for a relaxing retreat in the snow and we're not disappointed. We arrived at Narita airport and took the local train to Yunishigawa Onsen Stn by local train via Asakusa; Shinkansen would have cost twice as much.
