As expected, room was perfectly clean and everything was well organized. In this kind of hotel I was not going to expect some glitches... Check in is available through some tablet; the software requires the name of the guest but you don't know if you should type first name and second name (name and surname) or viceversa (even the hotel assistant nearby didn't help on this); if the sequence is not what the software expected, an alert with "No reservation" shows up and you spend time guessing what went wrong. More, in room you'll find 3 recycle bins but instructions about what to put in (paper, plastic and something else, I suppose) were only in japanese. International visitors are not fully considered...

“Nice central hotel”

Great hotel in the middle of things airport limousine bus pick up outside. Clean and tidy nice staff as much coffee etc as you want in your room a standard twin is way bigger than a double.

We’ve stayed at Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku twice in two years, 5 nights in 2025 and 9 (yes nine!) nights in 2026. We loved it in 2025 but found a lot of shortcomings in 2026. To begin with the people working here have lost their human touch. What was a warm place last year has now become a factory which churns out tourists on a daily basis. The staff at the reception are cold, they want to hurry you through the check-in process and barely want to listen to you. The older gentleman at the breakfast place was the only guy in the hotel who was pleasant, like last year. The buffet breakfast is the same as last year, by same I mean it was identical last year, zero variation. The food is good but come on, there should be some variation occasionally? Also, the last call for breakfast is at 9.45 am but in reality the staff start picking things up at 9.40 itself. This is a hotel which caters primarily to tourists. They need to realise that tourists come late at night sometimes, like to wake up late at times and hence a 9.45 last call is not appropriate. They need to be a bit more considerate at all levels. This year we found them just too rigid, inconsiderate and treated us with a checklist instead of being a bit human about it. The quality of the amenities and toiletries has gone down a notch. Last year they had better quality stuff, this year we could see the cost cutting. Last year we didn’t have any issue with our room/bathroom, while this year we had a problem with the flush and a creaky bathtub. The locational advantages that this place has remain as good as ever. It is very very conveniently located and getting anywhere is a breeze. There are lots of dining options and some lovely watering holes nearby within easy reach. Having said that we dont think just the superb location will get us back. Next time we will look elsewhere, for a place with a bit of warmth.
