We had a wonderful two-night family stay at Hotel Toranomon Hills and would happily return. We arrived at approximately 1am after a three-to-four-hour flight from Hong Kong. The hotel team were ready to receive us, and check-in was quick, warm and extremely efficient. After travelling late with children, that smooth arrival made an immediate difference. We had arranged two connecting rooms (one king and another with two double beds) and the connection had been guaranteed before arrival. This was enormously reassuring, as connecting rooms are not always guaranteed at hotels. The arrangement was ideal for our family and was exactly as promised when we arrived. Both rooms were spotless, and we had no issues whatsoever with housekeeping. They were also exceptionally quiet. We heard no outside noise during our stay, despite being in the middle of a major business district and transport complex. The beds and linens were excellent, and the fluffy duvets were the kind you simply melt into after a long day walking around Tokyo. Each room had a very large shower with remarkable water pressure (possibly the best showers of our entire trip). The bathrooms were designed somewhat unusually, with the shower and toilet inside but the sink positioned outside in the bedroom. The arrangement took a moment to get used to, but it worked well. Our favourite room feature was the large couch against the window, which created a wonderful place to sit, rest and watch the city below. Breakfast at Le Pristine was outstanding. It was not included in our stay, but we felt it was worth the additional cost. There was a good buffet, but the real highlight was the extensive selection of dishes available to order through an app. Everything arrived quickly, and guests could try as many dishes as they wished. The pancakes were particularly good, and every coffee and matcha order was excellent. The restaurant is a beautiful space filled with natural light and greenery, creating a relaxed atmosphere in the morning. We also enjoyed meeting the restaurant director and learning more about the different dishes. The hotel’s lounge is included for all guests. It does not serve alcohol and the food offering is limited to a few small snacks, but coffee, juice and soft drinks are available. We found it to be a very useful place for the family to pause and recharge before heading back into Tokyo. The lobby has a calm, contemporary atmosphere, with a bar and brasserie that become much livelier from late morning onward. The hotel’s connection to Toranomon Hills Station Tower is enormously convenient. The complex contains numerous offices, cafés, restaurants and shops, including convenience stores, and the metro is only a couple of escalators down from directly outside the lobby. Ginza, Tokyo Station and Roppongi are all only a few stops away. There is also a Dr. Stretch in the complex. After several days of excessive walking, I visited and found it surprisingly affordable and extremely helpful in getting me comfortably back on my feet. Toranomon sometimes receives mixed reactions from leisure travellers because it is primarily a business district, but we loved the area. It is calm during the evening, lively without being chaotic during the working day, and exceptionally walkable. We could reach Roppongi in approximately 15 minutes, and the walk through the quieter backstreets beside the huge skyscrapers was always enjoyable. Ginza, Akasaka, the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station were also within walking distance for us. The only meaningful limitations are that the hotel has no swimming pool and its own gym is quite basic. The gym will do the job for a straightforward workout, but it does not match the quality of the rest of the property. Overall, the guaranteed connecting rooms, exceptional quietness, excellent beds, powerful showers, spotless housekeeping, useful lounge, direct metro access and memorable breakfast made this one of our favourite hotel stays. The service was excellent from our 1am arrival onward, and we would enthusiastically stay here again.
